Mihrets POV

Senior year was meant to be a fresh start for me. A new school, new friends, new experiences. I had been nervous about it, but excited too. It was an opportunity to reinvent myself, to step outside of my comfort zone and try new things. And for a while, it was going well. I made a couple of friends, got involved in some extracurricular activities, and started to feel like I belonged.

But then, everything changed. It was a week after my birthday, and I was still basking in the glow of celebration. My family had come over, we had a big dinner, and my friends had surprised me with a cake. It had been a really good day. But then, the next morning, everything fell apart.

I woke up to find my mother on the phone, tears streaming down her face. I could hear her saying something about my father, about the government, about a car chase. I didn't understand what was happening at first, but then she turned to me and said, "Your father has been arrested."

I couldn't believe it. My father was a respected military leader, a man who had devoted his life to serving his country. He was honest, trustworthy, and dedicated. There was no way he could have done anything wrong. And yet, here we were, being told that he had been hunted by the opposing government and was now in prison.

The days that followed were a blur of anxiety and fear. My mother spent all her time on the phone, trying to gather information about my father's whereabouts and well-being. The authorities had accused him of crimes he did not commit, and we were left in the dark about what was happening.

I tried to focus on school, on my friends, on anything that would distract me from the reality of what was happening. But it was impossible. Every time I walked down the hallways of my school, I felt like I was carrying a weight on my shoulders. Every time I sat in class, I felt like I was in a fog.
