Mihret's POV
The next day, I woke up to the sound of my father's voice. It was an unusual time for him to be up and about, and I was curious as to what had prompted him to wake up so early.
My father was sitting at the edge of my bed, staring into space. He seemed lost in thought and didn't even acknowledge that I was awake.
"Dad, is everything okay?" I asked, my voice laced with concern.
My father turned to me slowly and sighed deeply. "Mihret, I need to talk to you about something important," he said, his voice low and grave.
My heart skipped a beat as I realized that something serious was happening. I waited for my father to speak, my mind racing with all kinds of possibilities.
"I've been called to duty," her father said finally, breaking the silence. "I have to leave for the rural areas to teach."
I was confused, this didn't sound out of the ordinary. I stared at him, waiting for him to explain further.
"The new government is after me," he said, his voice filled with anger. "They're making false accusations and trying to get their hands on me. I can't let them jeopardize the safety of our people anymore. I need to go into hiding.Soon enough they'll find me or kill me"
I felt a lump form in my throat as I realized the gravity of the situation. My father was being forced to leave our home and go into hiding because of false accusations made by the new government. It was unfair and unjust, but there was nothing we could do about it.
Tears filled my eyes as I realized that my father's life was in danger.
