Days turned into weeks, and took on the responsibility of looking after her siblings and her mother. She tried to keep things as normal as possible, but it was difficult knowing that their lives could be in danger at any moment.
One day, as she was walking home from school, she saw a group of government officials talking to her mother outside their home. Her heart raced as she approached them, unsure of what was happening.
The officials demanded to know where her father was hiding. They threatened her mother with dire consequences if she did not reveal his location. Mihret's mother stood strong, refusing to betray her husband's trust.
Mihret watched helplessly as the officials left, leaving her mother visibly shaken. She knew that they could come back at any moment, and she had to be prepared to protect her family.
That night, as she sat at the dinner table with her family, Mihret realized that things would never be the same again. Her father's absence loomed over them, and they all felt the weight of his absence. But they were determined to stay strong and support each other through this difficult time.
Weeks turned into months, and Mihret's father remained in hiding. She missed him terribly and longed for his return. But she knew that he was doing what he had to do to protect their family and their community.
