(whole story narrated in Manny's POV)
It was late at night. Crickets are chirping and the moon is shining bright outside. Tree branches swayed through the gentle spring night breeze. I was the only one who couldn't sleep. I could hear my 2 friends snoring. Sadly, I couldn't join them as I was heavily infected by insomnia.
After remembering some of the most terrible things I had done, I went sweaty. Regret is such a powerful emotion. I rolled from side to side, unable to think of what to do to fall into slumber. The shadows illuminated by the moon gave more chills down my spines. They gave me the thoughts that someone might break into the room and do unimaginably horrible things to me, whether it'd be devouring me whole, stabbing me to death, or worse...
I decided to discard all those thoughts and ran out of the room. I slipped down the stairs and almost hit my head on the floor. The downstairs part of the house is even darker than our bedroom, where the moonlight freely flows inside. I put my hands on the walls and stroke them side to side like a blind person until I finally felt the light switch. As soon as I found it, I clicked on the switch and light flooded all over the living room.
"You should be asleep right now, night owl," said a familiar voice from somewhere. "The world where dreams happen are already awaiting your arrival."
"But I can't sleep," I whined.
"Poor you."
All of a sudden, the lights went out in a click. I panicked and looked around frantically. Soon, I saw smaller range of light in one side of the room. There, on top of the tv, sits a lamp called Larry. He was holding a pile of pebbles, in which he threw one of them to the light switch to turn the lights off earlier. There's a mischievous smile on his face.
"Did you know that bad dreams are more likely to happen when the room is cold?"
"I don't need to know that," I scoffed.
"Well then when are you going to sleep?" asked Larry.
"I told you, I can't."
Instead of helping with the situation, Larry continues to tease me. I soon got really fed up and tried to attack the damn lamp. All of a sudden, everything went swirly around me and I got teleported into another place. Larry was nowhere to be found. I found myself in the middle of the road surrounded by thick trees and posts. The sky seems to be dark yet it's not nighttime.
"Where am I?" I asked myself.
After a while, an open roof car comes by. Desperate of getting back home, I hopped into the car even though I don't know the people riding there neither do they even ask me to hop in with them. The road goes on and on, the trees lessening. I looked at the end of the road and realizes we're heading to a beach resort. I got excited about the fact that we're going swimming but I'm scared of getting kicked out of the car so I kept being quiet.
At last, we've reached the shores. The sky is also slowly becoming brighter, similar to a morning sky. I could hear the waves from the sea and it was very relaxing. I waited for the whole family to come out of the car before I went out of my hiding place. There's only quite a few people at the beach but I don't mind. After all, beaches are fun to visit whether you're alone or surrounded by lots of people. I ran around the white sand before removing my shoes and socks to dive into the salty waters.
For some reason, I could breathe underwater. The fishes seem really friendly to me. I swam around until I saw a shark fin coming towards me. Of course, I got really scared so I swam as fast as I could towards the shore, letting the waves push me towards there. I lied down the sand and breathes in relief. Soon, I heard someone calling my name. I looked around and saw Harry.
