"Are you ready, bud?" Link asked him, handing him a wooden sword,
"Oh yeah! Time to kick some butt!" Erick said excitedly, taking stance. Link fixed a few thing before letting him at the dummy,
"Hyah! Take that!" He called, striking the dummy. Link chuckled,
"Good! Just make sure to keep a good grip on the hilt. You don't want to drop it, right?" Erick nodded, adjusting his hands. He then went at it again,
"Better. Now, let me see the stab," Link instructed, crossing his arms. Erick nodded and paused for a moment before jabbing forward. The end of the sword tipped down and he missed,
"Keep your balance, Erick. Make sure you keep that in mind," he said. Erick tried again, and the tip jammed into its chest,
"Good. Now, we're adding a new one, a jump attack," he pulled out his practice sword and demonstrated it. Erick payed closed attention,
"Ok, I think I've got it," he said,
"Excuse me, sir? I have a message for you in my office," Sarth said, approaching. Link glanced over at him before looking back at Erick,
"Practice that move until I get back. Remember what we talked about," he said, patting him on the back, "Keep an eye on him for me, would you?" He asked a guard as he walked past,
"Yes sir," he responded, walking closer to the boy. Link followed Sarth inside,
"What is it?" He asked when they entered the office,
"I have an urgent message from the general stationed in the desert. The situation is worsening and recruitments may be necessary,"
"What's happening?" Link asked, crossing his arms,
"Shadows are spreading through the land. They seem to be originating from the ancient prison. They haven't appeared to take any solid shape yet, but two soldiers have come up missing in the last few weeks," he explained. Link nodded, thinking for a minute,
"Does he have any suspicions as to why they are suddenly appearing?" Sarth sighed,
"He thinks they are being...summoned. All entrances to the prison are now unobtainable. It appears like a base has being set up there,"
"Like someone's building an army?" Sarth nodded,
"Out of lost, angry spirits. Whoever it is knows how vulnerable these entities are," Sarth said, leaning forward,
"I want Kitri to lead the group of soldiers heading out there," he said,
"He also asked if you would come," Sarth said after a moment. Link looked up at him for a moment,
"Not yet," he finally said quietly. He couldn't leave his family yet. Besides, Kitri had incredible abilities. It could be she could regain control of the situation.
Sarth nodded,
"Yes sir. I will notify them immediately. That is all," he said, leaning over his paperwork. Link exited the room, walking back to Erick,
"Hey dad! I think I've got it down!" He said excitedly. Link pushed away everything that had happened,
"Oh yeah? Well, what are you waiting for? Show me!" He said, smiling. Erick nodded and jumped forward, hitting the dummy in the chest. It was a bit sloppy, but pretty good for his first time,
"That's progress! Now, come on. It's about time for dinner, and your mom will kill us if we're late," Erick faked a look of horror,
"Oh yeah! Let's go dad! Queen Mom is waiting!" He said, putting up his sword and running over to him. Link laughed and picked him up, putting him on his shoulder,
"Yeah, we better hurry!" He said, running towards the castle.
