I pulled into work and whipped my tears away. I quickly ran into the store and walked quickly into the back to Mr. Jones office. I closed the door behind me and sat down, “Sorry I’m late, had to take Thor out for a walk.” I said a bit out of breath.
“It is okay, Andrea.” He said whilst still sitting in front of the computer. He was always on that thing.
He finally turned to me after a couple of minutes and searched my face. Mr. Jones was older than me, bigger than me, and a bit scary if I saw so myself. He has a tendency to stare into your soul, like he is right now.
“So Andrea, tell me, how are you doing?” He asked moving his chair a bit closer to me, but not to close.
“I am, uh, good. How are you?” I asked trying to figure everything out.
“Are you really good Andrea?” He asked again.
“Yeah…” I said hesitantly.
“Alright Andrea, Nathan came and talked to me today. He told me what is going on.” He explained.
I felt my stomach drop and tears coming up again but I held them back, “Oh, I see.” Was the only thing that came out of my mouth.
“He said that you are going around telling people that he is a creep and how you flirt with him and how you tried to get him to sleep with you.” He explained. I felt the tears coming up and I had to look down because I was afraid of them falling.
“It’s not true Mr. Jones, he is lying. I never did any of that.” I said shakily.
“I know you didn’t Andrea.” He stated. I looked up at him in shock.
“What?”
“I know you didn’t do any of that. You are a good girl Andrea and that is not you. Nathan is a punk that likes attention.” He explained whilst rocking in his office chair.
“So I am not in trouble or anything?” I asked.
“No, of course not. I was just letting you know what Nathan told me.” He said.
“Oh okay, well thanks.” I said getting up from the chair.
“Oh but I have to tell you, Nathan is working with you tonight, but so is Matt. So if anything get Matt to deal with him. I will also be talking to Matt to let him know what is going on.”
I lost him at ‘Nathan is working tonight’ but then caught him again when he said ‘So is Matt’. Matt and I were like brother and sister. He always picked on me and me on him but we were here for each other when we needed each other.
“Alright.” I said before walking out of his office.
“Andrea, it will be okay. This will all pass.” He said and I walked out.
Part of me couldn’t believe his last words only because I have heard them before. How will this all be okay? I am being tormented and abused. It sure doesn’t seem like it will pass anytime soon.
I looked at my watch and saw that I had 30 minutes before I had to be clocked in, so I went and got me some lunch for today.
I ran over to CVS and got a frozen dinner and a Dr. Pepper. I checked out and went to my car. As I was getting in my car I felt someone watching me. I looked around the parking lot and a black SUV caught my eye. No one was in the front seat from what I could see and I couldn’t see through the back windows to see into the back seat of the car. I shrugged it off and got into my car. As I was pulling out I saw 2 boys that looked alike walk out of CVS and get into the passenger and driver’s seat of the SUV.
Hmm, so they were just in the store. Well duh, they are at CVS for a reason.
