I don’t know how long we had been driving but all I know is that we have been driving for a long time.
I had gotten tired, very hungry, and impatient. My legs hurt, my stomach hurts, my back hurts, I hurt in general. I wanted out of the car and out of this place. I didn’t want to be with these people I don’t know. I want to be with my dog cuddled up on the couch watching Supernatural or Doctor Who. Not here.
After what felt like hours of driving we final got to what looked like a museum. We all got out and went inside. The place was huge and cold. I felt like I was going to freeze my skin off.
“Who turned the heat off?” Skip asked wrapping his arms around himself, “It’s freezing in here!” His voice boomed off the walls and it shook me a bit.
“Shut up, we are turning it on.” Beau said going to what looked like the dial to turn on the heat, “there it’s on now you can stop complaining.” You could hear he was upset with something but what you wouldn’t know because he was so hard to read.
I saw Jai and his girlfriend walk up a set of stairs that was off to the left, then I saw Skip and the bigger guy, I think I heard someone call him James walk off to the right into a different room. Then we were left with Beau and the other twin, Luke I think, in the quite.
“Why are we here?” I asked breaking the silence.
“Because you have to stay with us now.” Beau said turning away from us.
“Why?” I asked and I saw him stop and breath. I knew he was annoyed and asking him all these questions probably was not a good idea but I didn’t care. I wanted answers.
He turned around and his glare felt like a knife to the chest, “Because I said so.” Was all that had to be said for me to shut my mouth.
One thing is for sure, he terrifies me. But there is something there that I crave, I want. I can’t explain it, but it is there.
“Luke, show them to their rooms.” He said before walking into the same room James and Skip went into.
Luke started walking ahead of us and went up a set of stairs that were set to the right by the kitchen. We went up a flight then walked down the hallway past a few rooms then stopped in front of one door.
“Nathan this is your room. Matt your room is there,” he said pointing to the door on the opposite side of his, “dinner will be soon.” He said and walked away. I looked at them and they both looked a bit scared as they went into their rooms. I looked ahead to see Luke staring back at me. I quickly ran up to him and he turned back and continued walking forward. I felt like I was running to keep up with him he was walking so fast.
We rounded a corner then he stopped dead in his tracks, “This is your room.” He said. The door looked bigger than the others and when I pushed it open it felt heavier. When I finally got it open I walked in to what felt like a princesses room, it was big and had what looked like wooden walls and a high ceiling. As I walked in I saw the bed up against the right wall, it had to be a king bed, and across from it on the left wall was a big vanity and wardrobes stacked high. I looked back towards the bed and saw a door on the farthest wall that lead out onto a balcony. I walked over to it and I was about to open the door when I heard Luke say “Do not go out there.”
His voice was soft but assertive and I walked away from the door after looking back at him. I looked around the room again, it was so big and I felt so small in it.
“So, this is my room?” I asked walking to the bed.
“Yeah, why? Don’t you like it?” He asked stepping in a little further.
I wanted to say yes but for some reason I said “Not really.” I stopped and looked up to see Luke staring at me like I was stupid. “It’s too big for one person.” I said trying to cover my tracks.
“Yeah well, this is the room Beau wants you in.” He said turning to walk out but before he did he said, “Dinner is in an hour.” And he walked out.
He closed the door behind him and I sat down on the big king sized bed and was surprised at how comfy it was. I wanted to lie down but I knew if I did I would fall asleep and be late for dinner and I didn’t want to do that.
I got up and walked over to the wardrobe and opened it up and looked inside to see that they were empty. Go figures. I walked over to the vanity and sat down. I looked at myself in the mirror and saw what I expected, a very tired girl with messy hair and circles under her eyes. I sat there a bit longer picking out my flaws, when I felt my scars start burning. I lifted my shirt to examine them and saw that they were beat red. I carefully traced my hand over them and the pain was horrid but bearable.
Alright I am bored of this room, I wonder if I could go grab a shower or something. I went over to the door and when I opened it I was faced with the really pretty girl the twin, Jai I think, was with.
She looked up at me surprised but then smiled at me and stuck her hand out and said “Hello, my name is Ariana. It’s nice to meet you.” I didn’t know what to do so I just kinda looked at her and took her hand slowly and shook it. She was very small and petite with a warm, kind voice, and then there is me. The toned beast who could probably break her in half just by looking at her the wrong way.
I think she noticed that I was uncomfortable and said “Beau asked me to come introduce myself, he said that we could be great friends.” She said with a big inviting smile. I smiled a little and said “He doesn’t even know me though, how does he know that?” I asked.
She looked very confused at first then at an instant it was like she remembered something and said “Well maybe he just wants us to become good friends, so you don’t feel so alone or anything.”
“Right” I said, I turned around and looked in the room and looked back, “Well do you want to come in?” I asked with my best ‘I am going to be nice’ smile.
She smiled back that super pretty smile and said “Sure!” all happy and stuff.
I stepped to the side and she walked, well actually she pretty much skipped, in. She stopped halfway in and looked around amazed at the room. I walked past her to the bed and sat down.
“What?” I asked watching her look around amazed.
“I’ve never been in this room, this is the biggest room in the house, well next to Beau’s room, but still. He never lets anyone stay in this room.” She said as she walked over to me
“Why?” I asked letting my curiosity get to me.
“I don’t know actually. I think it’s because his room is next to this one.” She said still looking around.
No wonder I am right here, so he can make sure I don’t run off.
“So do you like your room?” She asked looking back at me.
“No, it’s too big for one person I think.” I said whilst playing with my hair.
She nodded her head and kept looking around. She got up and walked over to the wardrobe and opened it, then to the next one and opened that one also. “Where are all your clothes?” she questioned.
“I don’t know? I didn’t bring any with cause well you know, I didn’t expect to be here.” I spat.
She shrugged and turned back to the wardrobes and closed them then said “Well that is gunna have to change.”
“How? Not like I have any money or anything, and I don’t think we are going back to my house anytime soon.” I said whilst thinking of Thor all alone in the house. I miss him.
“I’ll talk to Beau, we will get something set up.” She said sitting back down next to me. I could see she was about to say something else when there was a knock on the door. I got up and walked over to the door. When I opened it Jai was at the door, or at least I think it was Jai. “Dinner’s ready.” He said looking at Ariana. Well good to know that I am invisible even though I am right in front of him. Besides I thought dinner wouldn’t be ready for another 30 mintues?
Ugh oh well. “Okay thanks.” I said and Jai looked at me like it was the first time he saw me and gave me a small smile. I wanted to smack it right off his face but gave a fake smile back and walked past him and followed the smell of food.
