Note: Each week I will give a number of prompts. Some might just a list of dialogue prompts, while others might be extensive story prompts that an entire series can be made off of. Most of the prompts will be based on the image or the concept, but not all of the have to be used as such. Don't get locked into thinking that these prompts needed to be used for this particular prompt.

Imagine a fantasy world where magic is prevalent. There is an ancient sect or order of warriors, maybe magicians, maybe even assassins that teach an aspect of this magic. In order for The Master to pass on their title and hidden secrets to their student, they must battle each other to the death. This creates a complex relationship between students and masters. Not all masters tell their students, while some train them specifically with this goal in mind. Questions to consider:

What sort of person trains their student with the sole intention to kill them? What about those who know about the tradition from the start and must train for years, building a relationship with the person they are eventually supposed to kill? How might this shape relationship dynamics? What if the student hadn't known? If a student had to take the life of the person they regarded as a parental figure and someone they looked up to in hopes of one day taking over, how might they react upon learning they must kill their Master? Are there other students? Is a lone master and student or are there other students and only the worthiest is chosen? Can the students band together? If so, would the knowledge be split among them? What type of magic is taught by these masters? Elemental? Divine? What type of magical secrets are worth going to such lengths as to protect them? Immortality? Ancestral Knowledge? Artifacts of Power?

Dialogue prompts

1.) "The wait is finally over, old man. Everything you have, your secrets, your power, your life, is now mine."

2.) "Forgive me for not disclosing this earlier. I cherished the bond we formed, and I was scared that telling you would ruin everything."

"You're ruining the best day of my life by making me take your life. How is this not spoiling it?"

3.) "The time comes when the new must overtake the old. We're just being a bit literally here."

4.) "You make me so proud. Every step you take, every move you make, I'll be right behind you, cheering you on."

5.) "The problem you have, all of you have is that you believe that magic is something that you use and not what you are. Each step we take, every breath we take, the very ground we tread upon is magic itself."

6.) "You're mistaken in thinking that magic is a power you possess. In truth, magic is the very essence of your being, woven into every step you take and every breath you inhale."

7.) "I won't be a pawn in your game," I declared, standing my ground. "I won't kill you."

"Then you've failed," they said with a shrug. "Not just me, but yourself as well."

8.) "I'll always cherish our time together, especially our meals like this."

9.) "All this potential squandered! And for what? Greed? Vanity? Wealth?"

10.) "Your heart is the compass that will take you to your destiny," she said, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder.

11.) "You have only one son, and that's me. And yet, you decide to bring in an outsider to take over your legacy? What kind of sense does that make?"

12.) "You were given everything, a roof over your head, food to eat, and yet you chose to take the life of the only person who ever loved you. How could you do this?"

13.) "Your attempts to challenge me are amusing, but let's face it, our skills are not even close to being comparable."

14.) "I get it. You don't have to explain. The young always strive to surpass the old, that's just the way of things. But let me make one thing clear, old man. I'll not only surpass you, but I'll also use everything you've taught me to shape a world that's far better than the one you left behind."

15.) "Holy shit, I finally won. Thank god you're immortal or this would be embarrassing."

16.) "I owe you more than words can say. I may not have expressed my appreciation before, but I'll strive to make you beam with pride."

17.) "Why compete for the power when we can share it? Let us divide it in half and ascend as divine beings together."

18.)  "Your life is forfeit, old man. I'll take it with pleasure. I won't rest until you're dead."

"If you think revenge is the answer, then I've failed to teach you anything about the true cost of violence."

19.) "You can run, you can hide, but I'll hunt you down and make you pay for what you've done to me."

"Ah, the impetuousness of youth. I look forward to seeing if you can back up those words with action."

20.) "The time has come for you to part ways with us, for the road ahead is yours to tread alone. Yet do not let fear grip you, for the wisdom of our ancestors shall pave your way."
