Write a story about demons/devil/archdemon's rise to power. Consider this beings backstory, his reason for wanting to rule over his plane. Now consider his Plane. Is it the traditional Christian hell or is it another realm entirely that can be confused with Hell, but functions similarly or completely didfferent? Do all the beings here cheat, lie and betray each other or is there no real difference to how people act than on Earthrealm? What of his lineage? Is he a half-human hybrid or is he full blooded? Is he secretly royalty or is simply a foolish imp with visions of grandeur? What makes him special enough to even consider this quest for power? Is he even special to begin with or does he simply have an ungodly work ethic, willing to train, lie, cheat, and scheme until he achieves his goals?
What if his goal wasn't to rule Hell, but to escape it entirely. What would be his reason for wanting to escape hell? Was he born a demon, or did he lose his soul? Maybe he works for the demon who has his soul or perhaps he looking to find his way back to that demon who now lives in Earthrealm. What if he's a half-blooded demon searching for his human birth parent or maybe it's the other way around. He was born on the Earthrealm and is seeking a way to Hell in order to connect with his demon heritage. How would life be like for a half-blood that was raised on Earthrealm? Is this a somewhat common occurrence or is a race bred?
Consider his personality: Is he the same as all the others of his race or is a one in a kind? Is he compassionate or just as cruel as Demons are depicted? Does he have friends or allies that he can trust or is he a lone wolf who has never known the comfort of another? Is he trustworthy or is he just a likely to backstab others as quickly as they will him? Is he as one note as every other demon or does he hold a myriad of complex emotions that may make him an outsider amongst the other demons are all similar to each other. Why does he seek power? Does he wish to redeem his people/realm or is he simply tired of being stepped on and seeks power as a way to ensure a better life? How old is he? Is a stagnant character or is he capable of change?
