It was the last day of school, my junior year is finally over. Next time I enter this school I'll be a senior. Which also means, this will be my last summer working at that camp.

Camp for the Disengaged

What a wonderful camp my aunt decided to make. Of course I'm forced to attend. She wouldn't let me stay home alone for more than a day at a time. Since I surely have enough friends to throw house parties all the time (they're far too much effort but I digress). Thankfully this camp is nice enough to make me a counselor, so I get out of their nightly "ritual" sessions. Which I guess is just normal campfire songs and activities.

I wouldn't know, I always avoided them. He told me years ago not to, so I agreed.

Every time I've gone to that camp one thing is for sure. I always fall asleep on the bus. Which is very unlike me. Even if I do doze off during car rides I will be awake enough to catch conversation. But I'm knocked out cold every time. I don't think much of it, I just assume its post-school exhaustion catching up to me for once.

CLANG

Something in the custodial closet rings through my ears as I close my locker. I would go investigate, however my aunt is probably outside the school right now with the bus to leave for camp. (Yep, we leave that quickly. Hence the fact I have a bag with me on the last day). I wouldn't doubt she'd send my cousin Tommy in if I don't hurry up. But something in the back of my head tells me to look. I creep over to the door. Perhaps it was just a broom falling that had been tilting slightly too much. Maybe its a couple trying to sneak their last make-out session before having to make-out with the risk of being caught by parents. I reach my had out to the door, but something else crashes. Frightened, I stumble back. Now I really had to look. I finally get a good grip on the handle and turn it, swinging the door open.

My eyes are shut from anticipation to reveal the mystery. My eyes then flutter open to reveal...

absolutely nothing.

I even mean it when I say nothing. No brooms, no couples, no cleaning supplies, nothing. A void. Perhaps the lights just went out. I wouldn't question the physics of it. I turn my heel to leave, after the unamusing discovery

"Parker"

What? Who said my name?

"Parker!"

Again I hear it. I look around to see if any classmates have appeared from nowhere. Weird. A rush of realization hits me. That voice, the one who has called my name? It's in the closet.

"How is that possible?" I speak aloud. No one is around to question why I'm talking to myself anyways. "Hello?" I call out into the darkness, "is someone there?"

I'm only met with a muffled voice. Something peculiar is happening. I'll risk it walking into the closet. Either a prank is being pulled on me or I'm going insane. I'd rather be going insane to not go on this camping trip.

Finally gathering what little courage I had going into this whole ordeal, I step into the closet. I go to reach for the light switch, perhaps thinking to myself I could mess with the lights to get them working. Only, there was no light switch. And there was no people. And before I can get out of the closet, the doorway is above me. I'm falling.

The further I fall, the more accepting I am of my inevitable death. No one in real life could survive such a fall. Right?.... Right? Before I question it further, I faint. I grasp onto my bag for safety hoping it will aid me or at least wouldn't be stolen immediately following my departure from life. Only by the time I wake up, I'm not hugged by death. How is that possible?

I look around at my surroundings. I'm back in a closet. Only this closet is one for a bedroom. There's a conversation going on. One person in the room with me, and another in the hallway.
