'There was an urgency in her voice. What could be the reason? Why did she called me? Did she forgiv-' David's thought were cut as soon as he seen Elina approaching his table. They decided to meet at a cafe near his office. But she came earlier than expected. Was she in a hurry?

As David was watching her come near, he noticed something. Her tear filled eyes and shaky hands.

What was happening?

"What happened?" he asked impatiently looking at her state.

"You came?" she asked.

"Off course I came. Now tell me what happened?" he was alarmed. He got up from his seat and took a step forward.

She stood frozen. No. She can't involve him.

But....

"Will you say something!? What is wrong?" He again said but this time louder.

"Noah he- he i-s" she was stuttering. Looking at her pale skin she herself looked like a patient.

"What about him!? Tell me" he shook her shoulder to say more. He felt his heart churning at a mere mention of his son.

'Shit. What did I just do! Wrong move Elina' she thought as she watched David's features frowning and his eyes searching for answers. Why is he acting like he cares? She was already regretting coming here.

"Never mind. It was nothing. He is fi- fine."
'He is not fine David' she wanted to state that out loud and hug him like before. But that isn't an option now.

"Stop lying Elina. Just tell me what are you hiding? Don't you dare to-" his grip on her shoulder tightened.

"Leave me Mr. Rhodes. It was my fault that I even called you. Don't you dare to superimpose your power on me. Again."
She hissed lowly while looking right into his eyes with her raging ones.

"You think I will not find out?" He said clearly pissed off because by her actions.

She jerked herself out of his grip and turned around to leave the cafe.

He can't watch her disappear like always.
.
.
As Elina was about to open her car door and escape out reality, her movements were stopped by a strong hand that pushed the door to lock again. "What the-" she hissed as he grabbed the keys out of her hands.

"Now tell me what's going on. I am informed that Noah is not home since morning." He asked sternly holding her body in place so that she cannot move.

"I see you have kept someone to stock us."
Not just one but plenty. They weren't kept to stock her instead they were kept to keep her and Noah safe.

"Forget it. Will yo-"
"No" she fought back. "Leave me before I shout for help." she was at the verge of breaking down.

Knowing her, he loosened his grip.

"What's bothering you Elina just tell me. Please." he told defeated.

"You- you are bothering me" she stated.

Really?

"Why are you acting like you care for Noah?" This was the moment she cried.

"I'm not acting Elina." He couldn't ask her why she thinks like that, maybe because he knew the reason.

Why is life always bitter to them?

He wanted to wipe her tears away. But he lost that right. He lost his claim on her.
He knew she was regretting her decision to even involve him in anything related to Noah. But a part of his heart was happy atleast she thought of him for once.
