Flying Together (the date part 2)

Gilly's POV

"So many memories here," I whisper into the cold night air. I think of the first time I flew and when I thought about just flying right out of FTRS.

"What?" Jax says from across the stables.

"Oh nothing, just talking to myself," I explain.

"About what?" He draws out the last part to make me laugh, which I do.

"The first time I flew." I sigh. "It's in the top five of my favorite moments in my life."

"Oh really, and what are the other four moments?" Jax asks teasingly.

" The others are when we got together, beating Rumplestiltskin and Avla, tricking Rumplestiltskin, and probably when I first met you swinging on a chandelier," I list.

"Those are good," he says as he nods.

"What?" I ask.

"Nothing," he says with a smirk. "I didn't know I was part of two of your top moments in your life."

I try and hide my blush. "Oh yeah, well, what are your top five moments then."

"I'll tell you while we get the pegasus ready to fly," he promises while he walks to the tack room.

(I know that Jen never said anything about a tack room. I'm just saying it for this story and because it's where you put your horses' things in the non-fictional world.)

"Hmm, I would have to say at number five is when I found out you were willing to jump into the ocean to save me," Jax says. I blush again.

"Number four is crashing that ball on that magic carpet so we could get back into FTRS," he continues. It's a good choice. That was a fun night.

"Number three would be meeting Ollie of course, he is my bgf." (best guy friend) "Of course, that makes sense."

"Number two would have to be being reunited with my sister." He pauses for dramatic effect. "And finally, number one is more of a bitter sweet memory, but still my favorite. It was when I told you my parents wanted us to break up."

I go to interrupt but I'm cut off.

"Let me finish. It's my favorite because you looked me in the eyes and said: 'No, they don't get to decide if we stay together or not. I love you, so no matter what, I respect your decision.¨That was the happiest I have ever been because it was the first time you told me you loved me."

My eyes sting, not from sadness but because of how amazing the guy that I was dating and even in love with was.

"Okay, are you ready to fly?" Jax asks me. "Definitely," I answer.

Jax's POV

I love that girl, I think as we each get on our pegasus and start to climb in altitude. I start to think of my number one memory. The first time Gillỳ told me that she loved me, I nearly cried. Gilly isn't cold, she just doesn't like showing emotion and when she said that, I knew she was telling the truth.

"Hey!" Gilly yells at me. "Watch this!"

She does a loopty loop and in the full moon's light, I can't help but fall in love with her all over again. Her face is so carefree and happy. She is the most beautiful girl I have ever laid my eyes on.

"Amazing," I say when she's done and do a double loopty loop.

She pouts a little but then when she sees that stupid grin on my face she asks, "What's with the huge smile?"

I look at her and say, "I will always smile when you are around, at least when it's not necessary to hide that we are together."

Then her smile falters a little. Really Jax? I think. How could you bring that up you dummy. "Well," I say, trying to change the subject. "How bout we race?"

"Oh, it's on," she says in her competitive voice.

When we get to the edge of the forest, she has a huge smile and is cheering. "I won!" I smile at her excitement.

All of sudden she gets a dark expression on her face.

"What?" I ask, worried about her.

She looks into the distance and says, "Something is coming, I don't know when or how, but something bad is back.¨

Then, as if it never happened, she yawns and says, "I'm tired, let's go back to the dorms."

"Okay."

We fly back to the stables and put the horses away. We continue talking but not much. At the girls' dorm entrance, I give Gilly a hug and kiss, tell her goodnight and that I love her, and start the walk to my room. I just can't shake the feeling that something bad happened tonight.
