Elisa couldn't sleep at night anymore. Not after she finally had the courage to leave Shinnosuke.
He'd been an asshole ever since they got together. She thought she was in love; she was sorely mistaken.
Shinnosuke had proven to be a heartbreaker, and it was a no brainer on why Nelly left him, too.
She stared at the ceiling as she recounted all the things he did to her, against her will. It had been a while now, but it still haunted her, and she played tennis even more to numb the pain.

It was 2 am, but Elisa didn't care. She was going to the tennis court, and no one could stop her.
She got dressed, got up, and went to the tennis court. Once there, she took out a ball and her racket, and began to hit her ball against the wall, over and over again, in the dark.
"How could you be so stupid, Elisa." Her words to herself, and Shinnosukes words to her. "You're worthless, and you amount to nothing. How could you do this to yourself?!"
Elisa couldn't even hit the ball anymore. She broke into sobs, alone on the court. Normally, this would have gotten her at least smacked by Shinnosuke.

But she was free.
She didn't have to worry about him hitting her anymore. Degrading her. Calling her worthless.
Elisa did have a lot of worth. She's tennis champion, for fucks sake.
All she wanted right now was comfort.
She sobbed in the corner until she heard footsteps. She flinched, startled, until she recognized the silhouette.

It was Sarah.

Elisa breathed a sigh of relief when she saw Sarah come into the light. A light blush dusted her cheeks. All this time, Elisa had been harboring feelings for her teammate.
"Elisa? What are you doing here? Why are you so upset?"
She looked up at Sarah. "Sarah! I uh… I just…"
"Thinking about him again?"
Elisa tried not to choke on another sob. She just nodded.
"Oh Elisa." Sarah sat down by her. "You're safe now, remember?" She just looked at her comfortingly. "He's gone. He has been for a while now."
Elisa sniffled again. "I know. But… I can't stop thinking about it sometimes."
"Such an asshole can leave a deep impact on you. But I'm here for you, no matter what."
Elisa nodded again. She hugs Sarah. Sarah hugs her, rubbing her back.
"It's okay, Elisa. Let it out."
With that, Elisa sobs into Sarah's chest, almost hysterically, finally having a safe person to let out her emotions to. Sarah simply whispered to Elisa. "It's okay, Elisa. You're okay. You're so strong."
The reassurance only made Elisa's love stronger for Sarah, but she was still slightly wary. Through her tears, Elisa choked out a few words. "Why did I date him?! Why didn't I listen to you?! Why didn't I date you instead?!" She exclaimed the last sentence before her louder sobs resumed.

Sarah definitely noticed that last sentence. "Oh Elisa… I tried. Everyone makes mistakes, no one's perfect. But even when you got yourself into that mess, I still helped you. Because you're my friend, my teammate. And I'd never, ever let you get into a situation like that again. Because I care for you. And, Elisa, I love you."
Elisa's sobs reduced to softer cries. "Y-you love me… you do?"
Sarah looks into Elisas eyes, and gently wiped her tears. Elisa was slightly tense, but felt safer now with Sarah. "I always have. And I always will."
Elisa sniffled as she looked into Sarah's eyes. "Thank you, Sarah. For everything." She gently laid her head on Sarah's shoulder.
Sarah smiled. "We'll take this as slow as you need it to be."
Elisa just nodded.
"Now, why don't you get home, and get some rest?" Sarah got up, inviting Elisa to do the same. "I should do the same. I haven't slept well all week."
Elisa got up as well. "I should. I feel so much better now."
Sarah smiled. "I'll see you at practice then."
"You too." Elisa got her bag. She gave Sarah another big hug before she left.

Sarah smiled as she saw Elisa go back to her own place.

'I'm glad she's safe. Safe and loved. And I will do anything in my power to make sure that she knows what love really is.'
