I followed Toko to her dorm room, and we sat at opposite sides of her desk, which was larger than my own. Toko's room also contained a bookcase filled with books, all written by her. There was a small computer in her room, as well.
Before I could say anything, Toko spoke. "N-no internet con-n-nection. All it has is a w-word processing program."
Well, so much for that idea. I decided to let Toko do the talking, since she wanted to see me, and not the other way around.
"So Monorakun claims that nothing r-really happened during the so-called s-s-security breach, that he just looked around and s-saw nothing. But I don't believe that for a second!" Toko then looked at me, glaring. "And you! You actually WENT WITH HIM?! What are you, crazy?!"
I sighed. So THIS is what had Toko so worked up. "I was not given much of a choice in the matter. Monorakun told me to follow him after you ran out of the Library. What was I to do, tell Monorakun no?"
Toko's eyes widened, as she looked at me with total disbelief. "You would have to have a d-d-death wish to go anywhere with that robotic...thing! And to do so voluntarily, without a fight?" Toko then crossed her arms and tilted her head to the left. "Who's to say you're not actually WORKING with that r-r-robotic raccoon?"
My jaw dropped, albeit slightly. Toko was accusing ME of working with Monorakun? This was ridiculous.
"No. Absolutely not. I would never work with Monorakun. And even if I would, I would not be stupid enough to lock myself in here with him, where someone else could find out and kill me!"
Toko scoffed. "Am I s-supposed to take you at your word? Everyone says we'll all work together, but deep down inside, we all kn-know someone may betray us at any moment. Who's to s-say that's not you?"
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. After a few moments, I opened my eyes again, looking directly at Toko. "Because I am not the one responsible for us being here. If I was, I would not be in here with you. I have a reputation to uphold, a business to help run, and a family to go home to. I want out of here just as much as everyone else does, believe me, Toko."
Toko looked at me, skepticism still on her face. "That still doesn't mean you d-d-didn't strike a deal with him! I b-bet you got something out of this, d-didn't you?"
I decided, perhaps against my better judgement, to be honest with Toko here. "Actually, a small deal WAS struck, in exchange for my cooperation during the Security Breach. Monorakun could not watch the entrance while he searched inside, so he made me do it. In exchange, he promised that, if any escape route was found, he would let me use it to leave, but I would have to do so immediately. In addition, he promised not to use this security breach as a cheap excuse to kill me, stating a death with no Class Trial was a waste of his time, and would be a violation of the rules if I did not break any rules myself." I paused, hoping my words were getting through to Toko.
While Toko considered my words, I then continued. "Besides, Monorakun would need a witness to prove he was not lying, and I would have no reason to cover for him. In truth, even now, I still have no reason to do so, and I would not, either. But he told you all the truth in the Gymnasium, I swear on my family's honor."
Toko started snickering to herself, though I failed to see what was funny. "Do you think I'm s-stupid? You're trying to trick m-me right now, aren't you? Well, I know what I h-have to do, and I'm g-gonna do whatever it takes to prove it, one way or another. If you're n-not working with Monorakun, I'll know s-s-soon enough."
Toko stood up, leaning over her table. She then pointed behind me, towards her dorm room door. "N-now get out!"
Not wanting to stay here a moment longer anyway, I stood up and calmly walked out of her dorm room, shutting the door behind me, and then headed up to the Fourth Floor to look around some more. Glancing at my E-Handbook, I had wasted roughly an hour with Toko's delusional accusations, as it was just a few minutes past noon.
Toko, at the meanwhile, was plotting something of her own...
