Spider rushed at the herd of Nga mokomoko toka, His mother had told him if he could tame one, he may be allowed to keep one and travel with the companion. He knew his mother was aware of this challenge for him, fue to him being human and not having a queue.

'You have the heart of the people, If you are lucky a toka will see you and form a lifetime bond.' She had told him.

Of course like their cousins from the sky, If one does see him, it will try to kill him.

The tokas hissed and turned all challenging him,

until one of gray and bright gold patterns charged at him.

Spider leapt out of his teeth and quickly attacked it from behind trying to climb onto it. Its meaty long tail slashed, slinging him into the sand rolling. He huffed out a pained breath before quickly moving to get up managing to dodged the giant lizard's mouth again. The giant beast Hissed at him and spider returned it as he charged at the creature, His fist balled and he swung, slamming the beast head to the side he moved to jump onto it, The lizard recovered quickly and snapped its head to the side capturing his hand in its jaw.

Spider felt his heart freeze with fear and panic, A call of panic coming from you, his mother.

His brain formed as the large creature went to roll to the ground.

'If a toka gets ahold of a limb, it will tear it off by its rolls, You mustn't freeze, not for a second, you must force your body to roll with the beast'

His eyes widened as the beast fell and a breath left him as he forced his freezing muscles to follow the creature. He could hear panicked calls as he rolled.

Dust and sand flew and your panicked eyes grew as you rushed down the sand dune to your son, your eyes shining through the dust and when it cleared your eyes widened.

As the dust subsided your gaze was met with your son on the back of the Toka, hand on its head, Both him and the creature handing. A bloody but broken attached right hand still remained on his body. Your son moved his head to look at you and smile, and you smiled back moving to him, hands on the creature's head.

'''You think he will learn to understand me?"' Spider asked you.

Your eyes moved across the creature's face and a sway of something caused your eyes to land on the creature's queue, a look of understanding came across you.

"'I think he chose you because you both are the same.'" You told your son, causing a look of confusion on his face. You moved the creature's queue to show him, the end that would have connected and made the bond permeate had been severed, no longer allowing the creature to bond with any na'vi.

Your son's eyes widened as he reached for it, softly petting the nubbed end as he looked at it, His left hand stroking the creature's head.

"'We will teach each other how to communicate as one."' Your son whispered to the toka laying his forehead to the creature's head.

You rode behind Spider as he led his Toka, who was named 'Rocky', you tilted your head at the name chosen by Spider and said it in his old kind tongue and not in your own. He had a wide grin at the name, a childish one and you wondered what he had truly named the poor toka. By his childish giggle you knew your son had picked a childish name. You shook your head and smiled as you both rode on Rocky to the next oasis.

"'Moma, why do you not have a toka?"' Spider asked, looking back at you. Your eyes sparkled as you chuckled.

"'I never said I didn't"' You told him, causing his eyes to furrow.
