I turn just in time to see Claire running towards me with a pink cashmere scarf flowing behind her. She crashes into me, nearly knocking both of us onto our butts. I laugh as I hug her while she bounces in my arms making her dark brown hair tickle my face. The smell of her perfume is amazing and I make a mental note that I need to know the name of it.
"Look at you! God you're so tan!" She says as she pulls away looking me up and down.
"That is Florida life." I say with a smile. "Congratulations by the way!"
She smiles like a fool as she takes off her slick white glove and shows me a huge diamond ring. My mouth drops open as the light catches it just right making it seem to glow to life on her frail little finger.
"Damn." I say in shock. "I knew he had money, I just didn't know it was that much!"
She laughs as she looks at the ring like it is her life. "He treats me like a queen, Sarah. Even after all these years." She puts her glove on and smiles at me. Her brown eyes twinkle at me.
"I'm so happy for you. Really." I say as I squeeze her arm. Before we can say anything else the sound of my stomach growling interrupts us.
"Come on. The girls got a table in the restaurant." She pulls me inside and the bellboy instantly comes over and takes my bags. Claire tells him the room and tips him before she turns us in the opposite direction and leads us into the fancy restaurant.
The restaurant is spacious with big windows on the left side showing off the beautiful mountains. The lights are low making it seem more romantic and the huge fire to the right of the room makes it cozy. Tables are set up with a good amount of space between each for privacy and the white tablecloths look more expensive than my rent.
"There they are!" I hear a southern accent say. June.
I pull my eyes away from the room and look at the table where my friends sit. June stands up with her long blonde hair pulled back into a simple ponytail that compliments her and makes her green eyes stand out more. Her full lips stretch into a big smile showing off dimples as she comes up to me and wraps me in a tight embrace. I smile and instantly return the gesture holding her tightly.
"You seem to get more beautiful every time I see you." She whispers in my ear, making me blush.
She always flirted with me and made me blush. Even though she was a lesbian she never made a move at me, which always made me think this is just the type of friend she is. Even though I realized she never flirted with the others but I never asked why. I kind of enjoyed it honestly.
"Europe seems to have done you good, although you still have a southern accent." I joke as we pull away.
She smiled. "Give me a few more years over there and I will come back with a sexy accent for you." I laugh as I swat her arm.
"Oh stop the flirting already, I want to hug her too." Toni says behind June before pushing her to the side to hug me. "It's been so long!" She says excitedly.
"Look at you big boss lady!"
"Bout time too. After all those sleepless nights and long hours nearly killed me." She says as she pulls back. Her dark hair is cut to her shoulders and the stylish glasses make her look the part of a big time boss. Not to mention her crisp white blouse and black slacks.
We all sit down just as a waiter in a suit walks up with a towel draped over his arm and a bottle of wine. He fills our glasses with a dark red wine before walking away as quickly as he appeared.
"Cheers to finally getting together!" Claire says as she holds her glass out to the middle of the table.
"Cheers!" We all say before clinking our glasses and taking a drink of the deliciously expensive wine.
