"I've never considered it but I might because they're special to me" I replied Aspen smiles softly. I feel Aspens feel flurry through my headaches, my body tenses, and I look over at them. The dryer beeps and I collect the clothing. I stand up and begin to fold the clothing as Aspen helps standing next to me. We put away the clothing and then I lay in bed offering Aspen a seat next to me as I turn on the t.v.

I turn it on to Netflix and turn it on to a movie Aspen laughs halfway through the movie as if I'd nearly fallen asleep. That wakes me up. I smile while Aspen closes the curtain and tucks me in as I pretend to be asleep. They kiss me on the head and Aspen blushes. They go to their bed tucking themself in. I walk toward the bed a few moments later and crawl in Aspen curls their arms around me and we cuddle in the cool night.

I woke up and checked the voicemail on my answering machine. There was a hit. A rich man was paid to kill his grandfather. He wanted him not to suffer any longer but legally nothing could be done. I called the man back and agreed to arrange payment. Afterward, I call the boss to let him know my plans "I got a guy asking for a quarter million for this death I know I owe you payment for that party and the cigs" I said lighting a cigarette I take a drag "Why not spit it 50/50" I replied Guzma agrees as I blow out air. "Nice talking to you" I replied as I hung up.

I finish my cigarette and walk over toward Aspen. "Hey Aspen I got a job for us," I said putting out my butt in the bedside ashtray, Aspen nodded as they did. I explain the situation of an old man named Harold J Smith and how their family wanted them to rest peacefully and ascend to the afterlife simply enough. "So you know a Harold Smith," I asked Aspen, shaking their head as I patted them on the back and we collected our things. I got details on my cell phone of the hit. The second floor of a flat-top building with no need to sneak in will most likely sleep when you arrive.

I repeat the details to Aspen as they nod. "This seems easy," I said we walk out the door into the car and drive about an hour away to the large swampy city of Baton Rouge, the night glittered like stars and the cars rumbled I find drive around finding the flat-top plastic white building off the east end of the city. I park on the street and pay the meter then try to open the door. Locked.

I took my pick-locking tools and clicked open the door. It was a little too easy. I walk in and look around. Aspen follows as we crawl up the wooden steps to look through each room until we see an old man bald and wrinkled. I could smell him, Aspen walks in as I point to them Aspen walks over to the man and begins to bite them. I grab them from the other side and drink from their neck. The man didn't resist because he was too sick.

I see his memories flood through me growing up being in a war, losing their leg, happily marrying, living with his two sons and daughter having a beautiful wife. Watching his wife die. Watching his kids grow up to become a grandpa playing with his grandkids. His life was pretty normal. I see the life drain from his body. Suddenly my phone rings. I let go letting Aspen finish him off. It was Guzma. "Hey, how close are you to Lafayette," The boss asked. I looked at the time I knew daylight was in four hours.

"An hour If I got to Lafayette I'd have to get a hotel what do you need," I asked "I know this isn't your normal job but your close most of my drug dealer is well, they are busy I need you to do a drug run, I comp you hotel and gas feel and give you and pay you 25,000 for a bag of pills" I sigh I didn't normally do this but I had to show aspen the trade this could be their thing as the murder was more my thing. I looked over as Aspen unhooks themselves from the man I look at and said "Any good kid" I asked "No old people taste like ass" They replied "and not good ass" Aspen remarked. I chucked

"Want to do a drug deal," I asked Aspen nodded. "Sure" they replied I put the phone to my ear and said "Sure we're in text me details," I replied as I hung up I put my hand to the man's neck to check a pulse rather than their wrist. I sit at the seat and wait to see if they turned reading through online posts and texts. Suddenly the information came in "You're headed to the hospital you'll find a nurse who's not let me down before but remember to check the meds I always so you're looking for opioids this shouldn't be hard to detect you're a professional remember what Ponyboy thought you,"
