"Shut the fuck up, Butterfly."

Charlotte doesn't remember passing out again. And she certainly doesn't remember getting thrown in some sort of jail. However, she's here, and she's just woke up again, and Hayden is passed out next to her, the sixteen year old's head leaning on her outstretched arm. The stench of blood and chemicals overpower every single bit of her senses, it makes her cringe and almost gag every time she takes a breath.
"Fuck me..." Charlotte groans lightly, slowly leaning up. She keeps the arm Hayden is laying on still, the seventeen year old not wanting to wake the Chimera, however, it's unneeded, seeing as when Charlotte looks down to Hayden, the girl is already awake. And she's scared shitless.
"You good, child Chimera?" Charlotte mutters, glancing around for any injuries. She's quick to find Hayden's palm covering her side, unsuccessfully hiding a gaping wound that's bleeding black blood. "I'll take that thing as a 'No.'" Charlotte mutters, earning a sheepish look from Hayden.
Shoving down her own pain, Charlotte helps Hayden up, stopping every now and again when the younger girl groans in pain. She mutters a small 'sorry', gently leaning the whimpering Chimera against the wall of the cell, placing a hand over Hayden's.
"No, wait-" Hayden mutters, trying to pry her hand out of Charlotte's grip before the seventeen year old could take her pain away.
"Shut the fuck up, child." Charlotte mutters, squinting her eyes in concentration as she continues to try and take Hayden's pain to try and heal the wound. But, it doesn't work. No matter how hard she tries, Charlotte just couldn't take Hayden's pain away, something she knows she can easily do, even if she's on the verge of dying. "Shit."
"What's wrong?" Hayden asks the now panicking older Chimera with wide eyes. She hopes to anyone listening Charlotte hasn't just hurt herself taking her pain. "Did-"
"I wouldn't keep doing that."
"What in the satanic, demonic, fuck?" Charlotte yells at the sudden new voice coming from the dark corner of the cell. She quickly places herself in front of Hayden protectively, both girls looking in the direction of the voice with wide eyes.
"Don't be afraid." The voice murmurs. A boy a few years older than Charlotte crawls out from the corner, dark veins crawling up his body and a smudge of a silvery substance - Mercury - on his cheek. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you."
"Who are you?" Hayden asks, furrowing her eyebrows lightly at the guy.
"My name's Zach. But, I think the question is, what am I?" Zack questions himself, looking down at his arms and hands.
Hayden and Charlotte share a look, hoping they don't die in his hands after everything that's happened so far.
"I mean, I guess I'm just like you two, an experiment. Hey, can you two maybe help me with something?" Zach asks shifting forward eagerly. Now, Charlotte and Hayden are all for helping those who need help, but this guy? This guy is really starting to freak them out. Charlotte is genuinely refraining from performing an exorcism, just in case. "The guys in the masks, they took something off my back, I don't know what it was, but I can kinda still feel it there."
"And you want us to look?" Hayden asks, subtly clenching her hand around the fabric of Charlotte's shirt.
"If that's okay." Zach nods, quickly turning so he's facing the opposite direction. Charlotte and Hayden have no time to discuss the matter before Zach is lifting up the back of his shirt, and the sight of the two bloodied stumps of what used to be wings spasming on Zach's back is enough to make them feel faint again.
