An Awkward Situation

My conscience slowly woke up, my thoughts following close behind. "Ugh.." Most of the time I felt like shit in the morning. Today was no different, I guess. I stretched my arms above my head, trying to shake the stiff feeling I got from staying still the entire night. I yawned, swinging my legs off the bed. Please be better. I inched closer to the edge of the bed. Taking a deep breath, I slowly slid off, my feet catching me as I did. Again, no pain. So far, so good. I walked around, putting less pressure on my swollen ankle. After a few steps, I tested my whole weight, pacing my room. Alright. I think we're finally good. I still need to be careful, though. With a triumphant smile, I walked over to my door, placing my hand on the handle, turning it and...

"JESUS CHRIST!" I fell backwards, but was stopped mid fall. "Ah, shit. My bad. I'm sorry." My heart raced in my chest. "For fucks sake Fallon. You gave me a heart attack!" I grumbled. He smiled sheepishly. "Yeah, sorry. I was just about to knock, when you opened the door, and yeah." He was holding me up by the collar of my shirt. "Could you.. um..." "Oh, right." Fallon pulled me back upright. "Thanks." I nodded, brushing wrinkles out of my shirt. "Well, I kinda caused that in the first place, so you really shouldn't be thanking me." He frowned. I tapped him on the shoulder. "Don't sweat it."

I glanced down for a moment. Fallon was fidgeting nervously with his hands. He does that when something is bothering him. I wonder what? "Everything alright?" I asked, curious. Fallon shook his head. "Oh, I zoned out for a moment. Sorry." "Why are you apologizing for that?" I tilted my head. "Uh- force of habit, I guess. Sor- wait, no. I was gonna say it again." I chuckled. "Don't you dare." He smiled. I smiled back.

After a few moments, Fallon cleared his throat. "Well, looks like your ankle is feeling better? Ready to kick ass?" He smirked. "Sure is feeling better. And I sure am ready. From what I heard, those other teams stand no chance." I grinned. He blushed slightly, his eyes breaking my gaze, trailing down. What is he looking at? Do I have something on my face? After a second, I realized he was looking at my lips. Huh, odd. "We should.. uhh... join the others." Fallon said, his eyes still on my lips. I nodded. "Mmhm." He backed up, shaking himself from thought. "Shit, I zoned out again." I chuckled. "You do that almost as much as you apologize, or give me heart attacks." Fallon giggled. "Heh, yeah."

We walked over to the couch, sitting down with Max, Ray and Owen. I sat beside Max, and Fallon sat opposite of us, by Ray. By the look on Ray's face, I could tell she most certainly had a crush on Fallon. Her face was beet red, and she avoided looking at him. "I still can't believe you made that jump! That had to have been, like, close to three meters!" Max gawked. "Dude, it was not three meters. Closer to two, if that." Owen grumbled in disapproval. The two argued, talking about Fallon's first completed challenge. I smiled. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Fallon looking at me. Curious, I turned. His face grew surprised, and a streak of pink blush ran across his cheeks. I chuckled, shaking my head. He smiled wearily, looking away. What a goofball.

"Let's just agree to disagree, if your few brain cells can even manage that." Owen spat. "Excuse me, I have many brain cells, and they are capable of many things." Max scowled. "Like remembering every dialogue line from Harry Potter, sure." Ray laughed. "THAT WAS ONE TIME!" Max yelled, pouting. He crossed his arms. Owen gave Ray a high-five, a grin across both of their faces.

"Anyone know what this next challenge will be?" I asked, changing the topic. All eyes turned on me. Uhm... my bad..? "I heard it was going to be outside this time. Not much else." Fallon said from across the room. "All I heard was that it's a team thing." Ray added. "All of them are team things, Ray." Max snapped. She stuck her tongue out at him. "He has a point." I mumbled. "THANK YOU!" Max raised his hands up in a exaggerated display. Fallon nodded. "Yeah. Do you mean they're putting duos together, or just.. normal teams?" Ray frowned. "I don't know." Max smirked beside me. "At least you have a partner that is actually interested in winning. Or putting any effort in at all." Owen muttered to himself. "More like down right committed. Your confidence is like.. you WILL win. You're not just doing it, you're kicking them to the dust, showing off in the process." Max chuckled. "I think having a partner you enjoy being around makes a huge difference too." Fallon smiled at me.
