Osamu had gotten up bright and early. It was the kind of awakening you get when you know something remarkable is waiting for you once you open your eyes again. He didn't sleep the best, his visit with Cupid was generic, and he woke up with his hand clenching his heart-shaped locket.
He sprung up, already fully awake, and tried to open the golden fate-keeper. He looked down at it as it warped his reflection. His face had a big dorky smile as he continued with anticipation.
SNAP
"Oh.." he whispered. He closed it back up with a soft smile, then made his way to the kitchen. The door made a high-pitched squeak as the smell of baked goods surrounded his body.
"Happy birthday!" His mother cheered as he came into her vision. The cake that was settled on the kitchen's island had chocolate icing with the number 16 decorated with candies on the top. His mouth filled with saliva as he got closer to the best breakfast he'd get all year.
If you can eat pancakes for breakfast, why is it weird to eat cake? That's what their parents would always say, so every birthday, the family would have cake for breakfast rather than for dessert.
"Is Dad gone already?"
"Yeah, but he left a card and wanted to face time to sing happy birthday with you two," she smiled.
Osamu sat down at one of the stools situated by the island and leaned forward, wanting just a little bite.
"Hey! Paws off!" She smacked his hands that were reaching for it, "You have to wait for yer brother!"
"Ugh! But he's probably gonna sleep til noon!" Osamu groaned, "Can I just have my half?"
"If you want cake, you can go wake him yerself."
"Fine!" He stomped out fuming.
He slammed the door open, hoping it'd startle his brother awake. Didn't work.
"Wake up, smelly!" He yelled.
Nothing.
This fucking dumbass
"Get up! Get up! Get up!" He repeated, making his way to his brother.
He squatted next to him, face emotionless, just wanting cake.
"Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!!!" He poked his brother's arm. He was thinking about pulling on the locket he already had on to try and choke him awake. But he'd get in trouble for sure.
"Wake up!" He yelled for the last time.
"Huh...?" His brother lifted his sleepy face from his pillow.
"Yuck! You were droolin'!" He pointed at his brother's pillow.
"Oh shut up!" He waved his hand in his brother's face.
"Momma's been callin' ya," he lied. If Atsumu thought his mother wanted him up, that meant he'd have to be up.
"What's for breakfast?"
"Cake, duh. It's our birthday."
"Oh yeah..."
Moron
Leave it to Atsumu to forget his own birthday. Or it could just be because it was early and he hadn't come to his senses yet. Eh. Osamu somehow walked out of the messy room to make his way back to the kitchen. He was very excited to eat that cake.
His mother made eye contact with him, "Did you look at yer locket yet?" His face turned red, "You did! Do you know who it is?" She asked on.
"No! I didn't!"
