People didn't usually go out of their way to like the twins, so on Monday all their friends (teammates) celebrated together with them. Actual birthdays were for the fam, and the day after was party day! They decorated the locker room and handed out gifts to the two.
"Soooooo," each of their teammates would start, "who's in your locket?" The pesky guys would ask.
"What's it to you?" Osamu would ask right back to them to which they would just shrug the question off. On the other hand, Atsumu would go on a whole rant. Osamu was smart enough to hide his locket in his room so people couldn't sneak peeks while Atsumu buried it in his bag to show everyone.
"Look at 'em'! He's so- I can't even explain it! Ugh!" He'd complain to anyone who'd ask. Atsumu would update his brother on every little thing.
He's wearing a mask!
He looks like he hates everyone and everything!
He's gonna have wrinkles by the time he's thirty due to his scowl!
Does this man ever smile?!
It was starting to irritate Osamu, but the sound of his sibling's pain was still music to his ears. The locket would 'update' each time someone would open it, it'd show what the other person looked like right before it was snapped open.
Practice started and the twins were already up to their everyday shenanigans. Racing while they did laps, aiming their serves at each other's faces, cheering for everyone besides each other. The usual. But Osamu wasn't participating as much.
"Yo!" Atsumu called from the other side of the net, "Whatcha day dreamin' about?"
"Who you talkin to?" Osamu called back.
"You, doofus!"
"Don't talk to me in public! I have a reputation!" He joked back, not wanting to answer the question. He was too busy watching Suna to mess around with his brother. He and Suna were teammates and that's all he'd ever known. There wasn't really any spark between the two, but there was also no attempt to be more than just teammates. Maybe he should ask to hang out sometime?
Nah, it'd be weird to do it out of the blue.
He just continued sneaking glances at the taller male. Looking at him in closer detail. The way his posture would probably fuck up his back within the near future, his sharp eyes, his still awkward-looking hair, overall everything.
SMACK
A volleyball went flying right into his face, making him tumble over.
"Ouch! That's gotta hurt!" Voices piped in.
"What the hell?!" Osamu yelled out to no one in particular.
"Maybe stop daydreaming and take things more seriously next time! Then you would have seen that ball flyin towards ya'!" His brother snickered from across the net. Osamu rubbed the part of his face that was stinging from the hard spike and swallowed the comeback that he had boiling within him. Suna jogged over and gave him a helping hand just for Osamu's face to all turn the color of the red mark left on his face from the spike. He looked away and got up on his own, whispering a thank you. He then walked over to the net, squatted under it, and started chasing his brother around the court.
The two were screaming, each for different reasons. Atsumu: scared for his life, Osamu: trying to say something about 'talking it out' (which was obviously a lie). The team does stations in the morning, and they were doing spikes at the moment. Osamu and Suna were on the receiving end trying to stop the volleyball from hitting the ground or just catch it to toss back into the cart. And because Osamu was staring at a certain someone, he got whacked in the face.
