The smell of freshly cooked food woke you up. It was something you haven’t smelled in such a long time. You sat up from the couch as you rubbed your eyes. Huh. You didn’t even notice that you spent the whole night on the couch.
“You’ve got a shit ton of stocked Instant Ramen in here.” Chishiya said from the kitchen, heading towards you and setting the bowl down on the coffee table in front of you. You looked at him groggily, your mind still comprehending everything that was happening. A bright morning, breakfast being served, someone serving it in front of you, the smell of the food—
This was something you haven’t had in such a long time.
Everyone in this place probably doesn't but, this was everything you just wished for. Even back in the real world. Back there, all you ever did was work, work and more work. You practically drowned yourself in work that you didn’t even have any time for yourself. It was ironic, really, how you ran out of your home because you couldn’t handle doing your father’s work only to end up doing the exact same thing.
“Something on your mind?” Chishiya spoke out loud, breaking your train of thoughts. You chuckled in reply, shaking your head a bit, “I just never thought I’d be living like this again.” You said, sliding off the couch to sit on the floor lazily.
The last time you had this peaceful experience was when you were a child. Breakfast with your parents, sitting in silence in the dining area or laughing and smiling while talking, those were the few joyful memories you had with the both of them.
“We’re making the best out of the situation, I guess.” He added on, chewing on a piece of bread. “And who knows, maybe soon enough we’ll have the chance to go home.”
You smiled, looking down on the bowl of ramen set in front of you, hundreds of thoughts and questions running in your mind. Go home, huh. “Yeah… yeah that would be nice.” You sighed, saying grace under your breath before you ate in silence.
Your eyes glanced over to him. “What’re your plans?” You questioned. That was something that’s been on your mind since getting back here. Now that the second stage had started, you knew the games would be more brutal than ever.
“What do you mean?”
“Second stage has already begun. We can’t just stay here through-out the entirety of it.” You answered.
He shrugged again, “We have at least 10 day visas with us, laying low for this time period would be nice… besides, you still have to take care of your wounds.”
You looked down on your hand, it still looked like a mess but compared to what it looked like last time, you could say that it looked much better now. “Do you think the others are okay?”
The blonde only shrugged, “They can handle themselves.” Was his only response.
You sighed, going back to eating your food again. Silence engulfed the room, the sound of wind and some papers fluttering were the only things that occupied your hearing.
"Come on, I want to show you something." He offered, standing up and putting his dirty bowl inside the sink as he put his hands on his pockets and looked down on you on the floor still eating.
"Where?"
"Don't ask."
"It might be dangerous, Chishiya."
"Don't you think I know that?" He scoffed. You only chuckled at him, standing up a moment later and doing the same thing he did.
You stood at the door, waiting for him to make his move, "So…?"
