⚠️) Chapter 4 ~ Liability

why don't you just die already?

I open my eyes and see an empty void. I turn around to see many villagers coming towards me like a mob of people. My breath increases and I start to run the other direction. The ground is water, I can feel my feet get soaked with each splash.

"Murderer!!"
"Monster!"
"Demon child!!"

demon child.

No matter what term I'm called, name, phrase, that one always seems to stick. Why?

"That Naruto is a demon child, you know. He sided with the nine tails. Stay away from him"

"He's the villages demon child. He's not safe, stay away."

"No!! Stop it! I'M NICE I SWEAR!!" I scream, pulling my hair. I run and run and run, with no true destination. I run into something. I look up.

Sasuke?

"Tch," he says.

"Sasuke!! You have to help me!!" I shriek, pointing to the angry mob of villagers.

"Don't touch me, demon child."

He levels his hand up to my chest and pushes me. The floor opens up and I start to fall.

"NO!! PLEASE!" I scream, trying to reach for something, anything to grab on to.

splash.

I drop into water. It feels like goo. I try and swim but with each stroke of my hand I sink.

"No.."

No.

"Please help!"

Why?

You heard them. You'd better off dead.

— sasukes p.o.v —

I wake up in the middle of the night to go use the bathroom. Once I come back, I notice Naruto is sweating and shaking. "Please...help....no...Why?" I hear him whimper. "Naruto..?" I say. I climb into the bed and shake him awake. "Naruto, wake up!" I say, violently shaking him. He starts shaking very hard, and starts crying. "Naruto!" I yell, desperately hoping he wakes up. He opens his eyes and shoots awake, hyperventilating and shaking. He holds his chest and looks around, and soon spots me. "S..Sasuke?" he sobs, his body still jerking with shakes. "Naruto.." I say, not sure how to accommodate my dearest friend. Naruto wipes his tears and apologizes. "I'm sorry Sasuke. If you need you can leave, okay?" he says, burying his head in his arms. I shake my head and hug him. "No, let's get some water okay?" Naruto nods hesitantly and gets up. I grab his hand and walk with him to the kitchen. I poor him a cup of water and hand it to him. "It was just a nightmare, Sasuke. I'm fine, really." he says, scratching his head. "I get them all the time. I'm really sorry for startling you. You can leave if you want." He says, gulping another bit of water. "It's alright, Naruto. You can't help it. Come on, let's go back to the room." I say, motioning towards his bedroom door. He nods and follows me. He gets into bed slowly and goes under the covers. As I lay down on my side, I feel pressure on my back. Naruto was snuggling up against me?

"Sasuke.. Can I sleep with you like this? Please?" he pleaded. "Of course," I say, flustered. He snuggles in deeper and puts his face in my neck. "Thank you.." he says, soon falling asleep. I feel my face turn red hot and I gulp. I take a deep breath and turn over facing Naruto, wrapping my arms around his body and pulling him close. "You're safe now." I whisper, soon falling asleep with him.

I wake up first in the morning, as usual. I look over to Naruto who is finally at peace, resting calmly. I smile to myself and get up, heading to the bathroom. I remember I forgot that I didn't have my tooth brush and I face palm. "I'm such an idiot.." I say to myself. I get dressed and grab my wallet, quickly scribble a note summing up that I will be out to get some food. I open the door and scan the house, sighing and shutting the door behind me.

— narutos p.o.v —

I eventually wake up, searching my surroundings. I read the note Sasuke left on the table and sigh. I stretch and yawn, walking towards the living room to read some books. I don't usually read, I just don't have anything better to do. I open a book that I bought from a thrift shop down the street, and I never bothered to touch it. I just thought it gave the house a warm feeling. I run my finger along the spine of the book, exhaling slowly. My stomach growls and I drop the book, grasping my stomach and stumbling back. I lean on the book shelf while holding my stomach, and I feel myself starting to sway. I regain my balance and stand straight, taking a couple deep breaths. I walk in the kitchen to grab some water to hold me over, and soon enough I hear the door handle rattle and Sasuke walks in. "Hey Sasuke." I say, rubbing my eyes. "Hi." he says, setting down a styrofoam box of bento. "Got these at a stand across the street" he says, smiling. I nod and stretch once more. "We have training at like, 8 today right?" I ask, attempting the fill the awkward silence. He nods, scratching the back of his head. "I'm gonna get dressed." I say, and I walk towards the bedroom. I get dressed and slip on my headband. I look in the mirror, fluffing up my hair a bit. I frown and scruff up my hair a bit more. I open the bedroom door, and walk towards the front door. "Come on, we are gonna be late." I say, motioning towards the door. Sasuke nods and follows me, and we soon head to practice.

— sasukes p.o.v —

"How are you guys both late, and arriving at the same time?!" Sakura whines. I roll my eyes and explain that Narutos house is quite a ways from here, so it does take a while. She looks white as a ghost. "You were at.. His house?" she asks, glaring at Naruto. "Yeah, I was too tired to walk home so I just crashed at his place." I explain. She groans and gives him a murderous intent look. As she continues to argue with me, she is interrupted by a loud stomach growl coming from Naruto. We both look his direction.

"You okay Naruto?" I ask. He nods and laughs dryly. "I'm alright!" He says reassuringly. Me and Sakura exchange worried glances, then we look back at Naruto who is looking at the floor. "Hey, Naruto, I have some left over r-"

"Sorry guys, I got lost on the path of life." Kakashi says, hopping down from atop the gate. "You already used that one" Sakura points out. "Oh, did I..?" Kakashi says. "Anyway, today we will be sparring. Teams are Sasuke and Naruto, and Sakura with me. Me and Naruto head to our spots, and I stand with my hands in my pockets. "You can go first." I offer, but he just stands there. "Um, I think I need to use the bathroom first." Naruto says, and bolts to the restroom.

I wrote this at 2 in the morning, im sorry for how short it is. I've been super busy and trying to upload my story as fast as possible but I get distracted fast!!
