Avery

"Yes, mom. I know!"

My mother, Eleanor McLean, is a worry wart. The worst of them actually. She worries about everything that could happen to me when my parents go on their business trips.

My mother sighs. "I know, Avery. I'm just worried about you all alone in this... huge mansion." Her eyes sweep across the gigantic parlour of our home. Our house is located in Beverly Hills, so naturally it is big and expensive.

Rolling my eyes at my mom's words, I take a step towards her and give her a big hug. She clasps me in her arms, making me feel 12 again. Making me feel the way I did when our family's dog, Rusty, died. She pulls me out of her arms, putting a hand on my shoulder. She has tears in her eyes. "I don't know why, but I have a feeling this is the last time your father and I will ever see your beautiful face, darling. I just have a hunch that things are going to go wrong tonight." She frowns as if she's thinking really hard about something super important. I smile at my mom's worrying. "Mom, nothing going to happen to us. We are a family. Bad things don't happen to families like us." She nods, wiping a tear from her eye. My father's waiting at the car, waiting to depart on their long journey to New York City.

I pull her into my arms again. "God wouldn't do that to us." I whisper into her ear. She pulls back and gives me a huge smile. "I love you so much, Avery. Remember that." I laugh. "Mom! Nothing's going to happen! Stop worrying!" She winks and ruffles my hair. I give her a little push. "Go! Dad's waiting!" She rolls her eyes playfully and steps outside. My father waves goodbye to me as he opens the car door for my mother. They aren't taking the chauffeur with them for this trip. My dad doesn't like always having to rely on the chauffeur to get him places. He likes to get places by himself.

As my parents pull out of the driveway, a silly grin makes it's way onto my face.

Pool Party.

Grabbing my phone, I send a huge group text to all of my friends.

Avery McLean: Pool Party at my place!

Instantly, I receive a bunch of replies, but I don't even spare them a glance. Why should I? I'm the Queen Bee at my high school.

I'm the Queen. They are my peasants. Smiling, I run a hand through my long blonde hair. I open my Twitter and type a quick update.

@AveryMcLean: Pool Party at my place! Bring ur bathing suits!!

Satisfied with the amount of guests I'll be having, I rush upstairs to my room to go change into my favourite bikini.

......

By eight o'clock, the party is in full swing. I smile smugly from my deck, looking over my olympic sized pool where hundreds of people are talking about what an amazing party this is. Of course, my parties are the best of the best. Of course, I could throw a party in my sleep and it would still be awesome though.

I think the most important thing when it comes to a party in Beverly Hills, is the host. If your host is a stylish, popular debutante, like me, then the party will be awesome, no doubt. But if your host is a ugly nobody, like Cassidy Mill, then the party will be a flop, Cassidy Mill is a flop. She,s just so ew.

"Great party, Avery!" Someone calls from down in my pool. I grin at them.

Duh, Captain Obvious.

Looking down around my party, I suddenly spot my amazing, boyfriend, Matt and my best friend, Jennifer Winters. I head down the stairs towards them. A lot of people wave at me and try to talk to me. I send them quick smiles and flirty grins at some of the guys.

If you've got it, flaunt it.

I saunter up behind the two of them and I notice them talking to the it couple of Rosewood High. Ick. I hate those two. They think they're so popular and cool, but really? Who do they honestly think they are? Kim Kardashian and Kanye West?

I come up beside Matt and shoot him a stunning smile. He snakes an arm around my waist and smiles down at me. I notice Jen narrowing her eyes slightly at his arm. What's her problem? Matt looks back up at Sapphire Andrews and Adam Samuels. I give them both my best fake smile. They both fake smile back at me. Matt runs a hand through his brown hair. A nervous habit.

"Uh, Sapph and Adam, this is my girlfriend, Avery McLean." I scowl at him. Does he honestly think that they don't know who I am? I narrow my eyes at him, but he doesn't seem to notice.

Everyone knows who I am. If they don't I honestly pity them. They must have no social life. Ew.

I pull myself away from Matt. He gives me a startled look, which also looks kind of annoyed. How can he possibly be annoyed at me? What did I ever do to him. I smile sweetly at him. "I'm just going to get some punch, okay?" He nods, still looking annoyed. "Fine. Do what you want."

I narrow my eyes at his stupid arrogant back. Sometimes I really hate his attitude. I stomp away from him, going to the punch table. A couple of guys from the basketball team come over and try to talk to me. Sure, they're nice and hot, but basketball really isn't my type.

After exchanging a few words, I pick up my cup and head towards the pool.

......

Around 11:30, my phone starts to ring. Annoyed, I stand up from my sitting position next to the pool and head inside where there's no noise. Just in case it's my parents. My mother would have a coronary if she knew I was having a party. She's weird like that. It's like she doesn't understand that I was popular. I hold my iPhone up to my ear, taking a deep breath, hoping that the noise can't be heard from here.

"Hello?"

A voice that's definitely not my mother's starts speaking. "Hello, this is AAA. Are you Avery McLean?" My breath catches in my throat.

AAA? Has there been an accident?

"Yes?"

There is sympathy in the woman's voice. "I'm so sorry, Miss McLean. Your parents have been an accident and have passed away."

Okay, so I know that Avery's very spoiled and acts like a little kid, but this is just the way she was brought up. I understand if you hate her. I kind fo hate her. But she is going to change. You will meet Katie next Chapter!! Hope you liked this chapter, song is Fabulous by Ashley Tisdale from HSM 2, kind of represents the way Avery thinks. She's kind of like Sharpay.
