10 - Undead Uncle

"Did you get a letter from mum?" Leo asks, rushing over to the Ravenclaw table as I'm eating breakfast. 

"Uh, yeah, but I haven't read it yet," I respond, stopping eating and lifting up the letter to show him. "Why? What's going on?" 

"Y'know how dad has a dead brother?" 

"Yes?" 

"Well, he's not dead apparently," He says. "And he now lives with us." 

"What?" I question. It's too early in the morning for this. 

I open up the letter. 

Rosalie, 
This is going to sound absolutely insane, but your dad's brother, Regulus, is still alive. He's moved in with us, you'll get to meet him during the Christmas holidays. I know this is crazy, we're all still in disbelief, but it's real, it's happening. I'll explain a bit more once you come home. 
Anyways, everything else at home has been normal. I hope you've been having a nice time at school. I cant wait for the holidays to come, I miss you a lot.

"This is insane," I mumble.  

"Yep."

The Christmas holidays soon roll around. Luna and I talk all through the train ride and I hate saying goodbye to her when it's finally over. We both promise to write to each other before parting ways. 

I find my family and we all say our hello's before heading home. 

We're introduced to Regulus, which is awkward. He's clearly not a peopley person and doesn't really talk much. So he's pretty much the exact opposite of Dad. 

Then we decorate the Christmas tree like we usually do, Christmas songs playing in the background as we all laugh and joke around. 

And then we have hot chocolate and watch some movies. There is some playful arguing over which movie to watch, apparently none of us agree on what Christmas movie is the 'best'. 

But after a long day, it's nice when I can finally get some pyjamas on and cuddle up in bed.

On Christmas morning, we wake up and open presents.  I got a lot of new art stuff - which I'm super excited about - and some pretty clothes and jewellery. 

We sit around for a little while, just talking, until the floo goes off and Marlene and Dorcas come through with their baby. 

"Oh my gosh, she's adorable!" I exclaim excitedly, immediately standing up and quickly walking to Dorcas' side. 

"We were warned that you're excited to meet her," Marlene chuckles amusedly. 

"Very excited," I say. 

The three of us sit down on the couch. 

"So, how has school been?" Dorcas asks me. 

"Classes are stressful and boring," I answer. "But it has actually been okay otherwise. And I passed those stupid tests I had to do." 

"We all knew you would," Dorcas says. "There was no doubts in any of our minds." 

I smile. 

"Is it weird Remus being your teacher?" Marlene asks. 

"Yes, very. He is a great teacher, it's just weird calling him 'professor' and having him give me homework." 

"Well if he gives you a bad grade, tell me and I'll kick his ass," Marlene jokes and Dorcas lightly whacks her arm.
