"I don't really have any other option, do I?" "Now, aren't you a smart little thing?", He said with a smile. "And that's what separates you from the others." He said. "Is... that a good thing...?", I asked with a raised brow. "Depends upon how you can take it." He shrugged. "I'm still quite surprised that you're able to be this calm." He said as he looked around the never-ending whiteness.
"I don't think panicking will get me anywhere, will it?", I said with a shrug. "True." He chuckled. "Now listen to me carefully, Y/N. I want you to find me....an heir." He said, his cheerful aura slowly fading away. I looked at him with confusion ,"An...heir?" "Yes, an heir. To be the next King. Someone who is worthy of taking that position after me." He said.
"But.... don't you already have an heir....?", I asked with visible confusion. "Isn't Shu supposed to be the next heir?" "I don't think that he's quite ready for that responsibility. He's old enough to realise that by now." He said, sounding like a parent complaining about their child to a teacher. My eyes widened with shock.
"You want to change the story?!?", I said, or more like half yelled. "Now now, I didn't say that I'm completely removing him from that list. And that's exactly why I need your help, dear Y/N." He said as he gently pressed my hand against his, loosening the grip almost immediately. "My...help?" I repeated.
"Yes! Your help! You're the most sensible person I've ever known!", He exclaimed with a smile, his eyes gleaming like the most precious jewel that is yet to be discovered by the man kind. "I... am?" I asked. "Yes! You're the only person that can make this decision perfectly, considering the fact that you already know quite a lot about... my sons."
"Please correct me if I'm wrong here. So... Out of the 8 BILLION people that live on earth, you found me... And now you want me to be your... counselor and tell you which of your sons is the best?" I said. "Precisely so." He nodded with a smile. "Why...me? I'm literally a normal person. What am I, the 'chosen one' or something?", I scoffed. At that point, nothing was making sense.
"You've got it all, dear Y/N. Except for one thing, you're NOT normal. Especially not with that brain of yours. You... how do I put it...? You have a very...complex mindset. The way you think of more than the necessary possibilities and outcomes, makes you so interesting. It's like reading an encyclopaedia. But you never know what the next piece of information will be." He said.
"How did you even find me....?", I asked. "I don't think that's what the conversation is all about, is it?", He asked as he dodged the subject. "So Y/N... What do you say?" "What will I get in return?", I asked with a raised brow. "If I'm helping the Great Vampire king, I too need to get the benefit, right?" He laughed. "Of course. Anything you want." I smiled.
"How about this, while I'm on this... mission... I want you to...keep me safe. And by 'safe' I mean that, I don't want to be physically involved in any of the events that... may take place in the future. Not unless I actually want to be in one. And... I'll let you know what I actually want after everything's over.", I said with a smile.
He laughed and shook his head, "Ah...dear Y/N.... You really know how to use the opportunities, don't you? I must say I'm quite impressed you didn't ask for something more. But, as a man of words, I'll agree to your conditions." He said. Well...that went quite smoother than I expected...
"So we have a deal?" I asked. "Of course." He replied and kissed my hand that he had been holding the entire time. It glowed a brilliant red upon his touch. It felt strange... Like being hit by a fast moving truck. It took me a while to get used that new feeling. When he let go of my hand, I just stared at it, rethinking all my life's decisions.
"Uh... What did you do?", I asked. "Well we do need a contract to make sure that both the parties agree with the terms and conditions, don't we?", He said with a soft smile. "The mark that I've given you won't disappear unless you complete the task that has been given to you." He explained.
"Okay.... I guess...", I said feeling completely defeated. "I have another question." I said. "Yes?" "Do I need to be like...in stealth mode or something?" I asked with curiousity. "Do as you please, dear. I just need my work to be done." He chuckled. "Do I have a time limit?", I asked. It's better to clarify everything. Who knows what twist there might be next...
"Not really. But I do hope that you'll finish it soon." He replied. "Noted." "Now then... Since everything's been cleared up, how about you begin?", He said as he ran his fingers through his GEORGIOUS white hair. "Wait! One last question- actually make it two." I said as the blankness around me slowly started to turn black. "You better hurry then. You don't have much time." He said as he started to walk away from me.
"Can they see this mark? And... Will the story still follow its original script?", I shouted my questions. His voice was merely an echo when he replied, "No and yes... It depends upon you now." Then he disappeared. I felt a sudden jolt. When I opened my eyes I was in my bedroom. I looked around and found myself on my bed, in my pajamas. Well... that escalated quickly...
"Miss, your breakfast has been made. Where would you like to have it?", a gentle voice asked from outside the door. I tried getting off the bed but my legs gave away. Ugh... Must be because of Him... "Here please. May I know who is it?" "It's me, Sebastian, Miss." He replied. "Ah, I see. Where are the others?" I asked. "The young masters have gone to school." "All of them?", I asked. "Yes, Miss."
That tells why the house is so silent. Jeez! I don't really have much importance, do I? I thought with a sigh. This is going to be hard.... "Miss? Is there anything else you need?", Sebastian asked. "Ah- no thank you." I replied.
It seems like I'm the protagonist that nobody cares about... Great. Why did I agree in the first place...? ....WELL THAT'S CAUSE IF YOU DIDN'T YOU'D HAVE DIED IN YOUR SLEEP YOU DUMBASS! A voice inside my head shouted. I stretched myself and lazily rolled off the bed. "The things I get myself into..." I sighed. "Agent Y/N's on the mission." I mumbled.
