2 hours to get ready. Haven't thought about what I'm gonna wear yet, but I'll figure it out.

Knock knock. "Darling? I'm coming in."

She barges in before I can respond. Would've thought that 'proper women' waited, but, guess not.

"Happy Valentine's Day, my love. Hanging out with a special someone today?" I nod. "Thought so. Well, I am too, just wanted to let you know I'm leaving." She waves goodbye, and now I know today's Valentine's Day. But Mom? With a date? Shocking. Anyway, I check my phone, and,

Happy V. Day. I'd want you to spend it with me, but I know you'll be with the boy you like. Have fun.

It's from Lucas. My heart aches, but I can't deny that he's right.

Happy Valentine's Day Lucas. You're right, I am, but I hope you spend yours without me in mind.

That'll be tough. Think of me from time to time, will you?

Of course.

I pick out a white fur top and a bright crimson skirt for the occasion. Tie my hair up with a ribbon, and start on my makeup.

Soon, I realize that I've forgotten to get Avery a gift.

So, now I have to options,

1. Get him a gift tomorrow, and say I forgot (which I did).

Or 2. Run out now, and get him a gift.

Throw on my beat up sneakers, and I'm out.

Getting Avery a gift is hard, what wouldn't he like? It had to be special (clearly), but I'm just not sure what's special enough.

Flowers? Too basic.

Chocolate? He doesn't like sweet things. (Other than me).

A card? How half-assed.

Jewelry? He only wears rings.

I grab all those anyway, rush home and start packing everything in a basket. I spray my perfume on it, and check the clock.

10:47 A.M.

I'm coming soon, get ready.

I rush over to Mom's room, steal her red bottoms and bring the basket full of gifts downstairs. I'm waiting on the living room couch when the housekeeper comes over to me.

"Maple? There's a car waiting for you outside, do you need assistance bringing the basket out?"

Shake my head. "I'll be alright on my own, thank you." Smile at her, and I'm out the door.

"Happy Valentine's Day, doll."
