"Where are you going? I was hoping that we could all have dinner together as a family, but alas, you have plans tonight." Mom walks out of her bedroom, leans on the wall with her arms crossed. "Who's it with? A boy, perhaps? Ah, what was his name... Avery? Are you going out with him?" Surprisingly, she remembers Avery.
"No, Mom. Not him. It's someone else, and I don't think you need to know. Don't meddle in my business, please." She frowns slightly. "Frowning gets you wrinkles, I thought you'd know that." I start to walk downstairs, I can hear her slam the bedroom door behind me.
Lucas rolls down the passenger seat window. "Get in, we'll miss the movie if you continue walking at the speed of a grandma." I hurry over, close the car door, and he speeds off. "Here, I got this for you. Said I'd get you a gift, right? Open it up."
"Ah, you didn't have to, Lucas. But thanks anyway." I open up the box, it's a gold bracelet with gems on it. I prefer silver, but gold's fine. "It's lovely, I guess I owe you big time now, don't I?"
He smiles, "It's fine, going with me to the movies is enough. There's an arcade in the same plaza, you down to win some plushies after?" Maybe I could win a plushie for Avery, so sure, I'll go.
"Sure, we can go after."
The movie was boring, in fact, the previews were more appealing than the actual movie itself. Jump scares don't affect me, they're so easy to spot. However, Lucas seems to have enjoyed himself.
"Great movie, right? I hope they come out with a sequel or something." I nod. "Anyway, let's hit the claw machines."
He puts a gold card in the ATM. "How long are you able to play? Let's start off with 1,000 points." 1,000 points is worth like, 150 bucks. It only costs 10 each game, looks like I'll be here for a while.
In the end, I was only able to win one plushie. It's a simple grey seal, I'll give it to Avery tomorrow when he picks me up.
"Do you have a marker on you? I wanna add something to this." He hands me a blue marker, are all his belongings blue or something? I hold up the seal's flipper and write my name on it.
