Veronica spent the next few days following the lead she had received from Felicia. She went back to the brothels and showed the other girls Bella's picture, hoping to jog their memories. But no one seemed to know anything new.
As she walked the streets of London, she kept an eye out for the man Felicia had described as handsome and charming. She had a feeling that he was the key to solving the case.
One afternoon, Veronica decided to take a break from her investigation and visit a local bookstore. As she was browsing the shelves, she heard a familiar voice behind her.
"Excuse me, miss, but I couldn't help but notice you were reading that book. It happens to be one of my favorites."
Veronica turned to see the handsome stranger from the restaurant. Her heart skipped a beat as she remembered his piercing blue eyes and strong jawline. She felt a rush of adrenaline as she realized that he could be the killer.
"Hello," Veronica said, trying to sound calm. "I don't believe we've met."
The man smiled, revealing perfect teeth. "My name is Jack. And you are?"
