Veronica spent the next few days trying to put Jack out of her mind and focus on the case. She went back to the brothels, questioning the other girls and looking for any clues that might help her identify the killer.

One night, she received a tip from a young girl named Daisy. Daisy claimed to have seen Bella on the night she was killed, and she had also seen a man lurking in the shadows nearby. Daisy couldn't provide a detailed description, but she did mention that the man was wearing a distinctive hat.

Veronica thanked Daisy and decided to follow up on the lead. She walked the streets of London, keeping an eye out for anyone wearing a hat that matched Daisy's description. As she turned a corner, she saw a figure in the distance wearing a dark coat and a top hat.

Her heart racing, Veronica quickened her pace and followed the figure down a dark alleyway. As she approached, she saw that it was Jack. He turned to face her, and she saw a look of surprise on his face.

"What are you doing here?" he asked.

Veronica took a deep breath, trying to compose herself. "I'm investigating a murder. I believe that the killer may be in this area."

Jack raised an eyebrow. "And you think it's me?"

Veronica hesitated for a moment before answering. "I don't know. But I have to consider all possibilities."

Jack sighed. "I understand. But I can assure you that I had nothing to do with this murder."

Veronica nodded, but she couldn't shake the feeling that something wasn't right. She decided to press on with the investigation and try to gather more evidence against Jack.

The next day, Veronica received a disturbing piece of information. Another prostitute had been found dead, and this time, the killer had left a note taunting the police. The note was signed "Jack the Ripper."

Veronica felt a chill run down her spine as she read the words. Was it possible that Jack was the killer after all? She knew that she had to find out for sure before it was too late.
