One hand was delicately placed into Mason's, the other wrapped across his broad shoulders. He held me tightly against his frame as we did a simple Waltz. Nothing too complex.
I gave a giddy laugh as he spun me around, my face coming into close proximity with his. My face became beet red; a chuckle was emitted from his mouth. I placed my forehead against his chest as I laughed softly, ignoring the heat rising into my cheeks.
As the dance ended, we all bowed to each other, parting ways. I wrapped my hand around Mason's arm, allowing him to escort me to the common room.
I turned, offering a gentle smile towards Raab as he handed me a drink; punch I assumed. "Thank you, Raab." I gave his cheek a gentle kiss, my hands pressing on either side of his chest, supporting myself, seeing as he was taller than I.
"It's my pleasure. Are you two enjoying yourselves?" He questioned. I noticed his gaze was on Mason, a harsh, unwelcoming stare burning into my escorts frame.
I kicked Raab in the leg, giving him a warning to be nice. I watched his body visibly relax. His eyes landed on me in an apologetic glance. Mason placed his hand softly against my hip; which I wouldn't have even noticed if I hadn't moved back due to the uncomfortable feeling of wearing these god-forsaken heels.
We had been here for over three hours, and my eyes began to grow heavy with exhaustion. Mason and Raab had been talking to people that sat around us the entire time. At least they kept the Lords and Dukes entertained. I stretched my feeble arms, awkwardly placing them in my lap.
I gently nudged Mason's arm, my fingers laced around the fabric of his jacket. I watched him slowly advert his eyes from the group and down towards me. "Hm..?"
"Can you please take me home? I'm feeling a little faint.." I softly said.
He nodded his goodbyes to the men that he conversed with, wrapping his arm around my waist once more, walking out to the carriage.
"Are you feeling alright?" He asked as he offered his hand, helping me into the carriage.
"I'm alright.." I sighed, sitting down, leaning my head against the back of the seat.
"You're looking a little pale."
The palm of his hand brushed against my cheek, making my head turn to face him. My eyes were slightly narrowed with exhaustion. "I'm fine, I promise." I smiled softly.
He gave a short nod, allowing the silence to consume us. My head lolled to the side, landing on his shoulder as the ride went on. Mason didn't move, his frame still beneath my head.
"Georgie, wake up.." I felt a shake to my shoulders. "Georgie."
My eyes slowly fluttered open to see Mason looking over me. "Hey.." I smiled softly, lifting my head.
All I heard was a chuckle as I felt his hand grip my arm, pulling me gently out of the carriage. I gave a soft whimper as he lifted me into his arms bridal style, carrying me into Raab's house.
"Let's get you to bed.." He mumbled, trudging up the stairs.
I felt at ease as I felt his body flex beneath me as he walked up the stairs. I adored feeling his biceps and chest firmly placed against my body.
"Molly?" I heard him bellow.
"Yessir?"
"Can you dress her into her night-wear, please?"
The kindess in his voice made me swoon.
He softly placed me down. I watched him turn away as Molly undid my corset, carefully taking my dress off. She let my hair down. The long mess fell down my back, sending shivers down my spine.
"There you are miss." She smiled. I patted down my nightgown.
"Thank you, Molly." I gave her cheek a kiss before she left the room.
"Remove the powder from your face.." Mason grumbled, taking a damp cloth, he softly rubbed it against my cheeks, removing the powder and flower extract from my lips. My eyes involuntarily closed as his actions soothed me. "Keep steady, love.."
Sparks flew from my body at what he called me. My lips tugged into a wide smile, my hand pressing firmly against his chest as he finished cleaning my face.
"Get some rest.." he cooed, sitting me in my bed, he slowly pulled the covers over my small body.
"Thank you, Mason.." I whispered tiredly.
"Anytime.."
Sleep quickly overcame my body. I never even heard Mason leave the room. I felt the pressure of his back pressing up against the side of my bed. I assumed he was sitting on the floor. I sighed in my rest, my head firmly pressed against my pillow.
Mason had grown much more sincere over our days together. Even though we've only known one another for a few days, it's felt like years. His handsome frame gave me butterflies, the way he looked at me made me smile, and the feel of his body gave me a deep desire for him. He wasn't kind to anyone else but me, and I loved how he treated me. Made me feel special, unique.
Oh mason.. you'll be the death of me..
~5 hours later~
I awoke in a haste, a scream erupting from my throat. Sweat glistened on my forehead and my body as I shook wildly.
"Georgie?" I heard a voice rasp.
"Who is it?" I screamed, jumping out of my bed, I skampered to the side of the room, my back pressed against the corner.
"Hey, hey, relax, it's just me." I cried out as I realized it was only Mason.
I slowly slumped down, hugging my legs, my forehead pressed against my knees.
"What's wrong?" I heard the caution and worry in his voice.
"My mother..." I grappled, my voice shaking as tears poured from my eyes, staining my cheeks.
I tightly closed my eyes as I felt his arms wrap around mine, my head falling onto his chest. I wrapped my arms around his torso tightly, holding onto him for dear life.
"I haven't had a dream about her in years... I miss her, Mason." I cried out, my teeth clenching as grief poured over my body.
"I know.. I'm sorry.." he whispered, his chin pressed against the top of my head, his arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me into him.
"Go back to sleep.." he said softly, helping me up, he placed me back in bed.
I dropped my face into the pillow, allowing my tears to drench the soft fabric.
"I'll be right here." I heard him whisper, his voice calming me in a way Raab never has.
I slowly drifted back to sleep, my eyes heavy from crying. The feeling of his hand running up and down my side as I laid, instantly sent a wave of calmness over me. I sighed heavily, my eyes seeing dark as I passed out, his touch putting me to sleep.
A/N: I'm so sorry I haven't updated in quite literally, over a year. I've been so caught up with school work and personal life, I never had time. However, I will try to update each day, if I can. I love you all, and have missed each one of you dearly. I hope this chapter was adequate enough for you, I wrote it in a short time, so I apologize. Have a blessed day/night.
Yours truly,
