I woke up to the birds chirping, the sun shining, and- NOPE! Wrong wrong wrong! The day was gloomy as hell, and the birds looked like half-eaten flying rats. And of course, it was raining acid, which was great, because it was the first day of school! For many years, I had been home-schooled by my might-as-well-be mother, Edalyn Clawthorne. No one calls her that though, it's always the Owl Lady; But I call her Eda. Oh! And there's King too, the little munchkin. I call him "Mighty Demon Lord" sometimes just to humor him, Eda says I should be careful so I don't boost his ego too much. Today was great! Well- maybe not- but I doubt it could get worse. Right?
"Y/n! Come down for breakfast, it's your favorite! Potatoes and slug slime!" Eda hollered. I slowly crawled out of bed, groggy, but perking up when I spotted someone's cute tail wagging as he waddled down the hall.
"King! Gooooooood morning!!"
"Wah?! Oh, morning Y/n."
"You're looking extra menacing today, Mighty Demon Lord," I giggled, while King puffed up his chest with pride. We both hurried downstairs, grabbing our chairs so we could sit down and eat. "Thanks for the food!" I murmured, before beginning to scarf down the potatoes and slug slime.
"Well well, looks like Alberts back with the goods!" There was a knock on the door, but it wasn't Alberts signature knock knock, something was off.. That's when Hooty burst in, screaming his head off.
"INTRUDER ALERT! INTRUDER ALERT!"
"I got this!" I called, running outside to see someone glued to the side of the house like a dumb otter. Maybe they were dumb, because they had no protection spell, and it was RAINING! "Quick, over here!" they ran inside, seemingly grateful for shelter.
"Woah woah woah, you just let them inside?" Eda shook her head "Kiddo, what if that was-" King leapt up, interrupting Eda.
"A HUMAN?! WHAT'S A HUMAN DOING ON THE BOILING ISLES!?" He screeched.
"Wait- you're a human?" I gasped, turning to look at who I just led inside. They spoke, looking bewildered.
"Yeah, I'm a human, wait- are you not human? ARE YOU ALIENS?!"
"We aren't 'Aliens' , we are witches, and King is a demon. What are you doing here, Kid, what's your name?" Eda sighed. I narrowed my eyes at this so-called human, only Eda calls me Kid, hearing her call someone else that made me feel weird.
"WOW! Can you do magic? I have so many questions! Do you have cool witchy outfits?" I coughed scowling at the human, gesturing towards Eda who had asked them a question moments before, the human was oblivious to my annoyance with them, and grinned back.
"My name is Luz Noceda! I'm here because I went through some magical door thingy! What is this place?" She continued to look around, clearly in awe.
"Well kid, welcome to the owl house-"
"And say goodbye, because you're going home," I interrupted, still upset.
"Oooh~ Hooty sees jealo-" I smacked Hooty before he could finish. I grit my teeth,
"Shut it, bird worm!" I glanced back at Luz, "But really, it's not safe for humans here."
"But- I wanna stay.."
"Well, too bad, human." you glared at Luz. "It's almost time for school, I should be heading out."
"Have a good time, kiddo!" Eda called
"Bye bye y/n!" King hopped around with excitement "Bring back some treats, K?"
"Adios! Uhh... y/n?"
"Ugh, stupid human.." And I was off, flying with Owlbert to Hexide.
