"Are you ready to head out?" The ginger pokes his head into the room I'd been residing in. I only nod at his question, not letting on that I'm still spiraling. "Good. Let's get you out under all the commotion that's about to ensue.
"What's the Fatui planning?" I ask, my voice quiet but unshaken.
"Nothing the God of Geo can't handle if needed, I assure you." He smiles darkly, staring right at me.
Nodding in response, I follow him out of the room. My eyes remain on the flooring, trying to stay less noticeable to any around.
The ginger pauses at the top of the stairs and turns to me. "Here, you'll need this." Tilting my head up to him, he holds out a winter cloak. I could tell this was a fatui style clothing, the furs that insulated the inside poked out from the heavy dark cloth that sat on the outside. I nod in appreciation, slinging it over my shoulder. The cloak was quite large on me, almost dragging as I walked, and it engulfed my form making it hard to tell my build. Tugging the huge hood over my head, the redhead hummed and walked down the stairs. "You'll be heading north with a clone The Doctor had made and a few agents. Don't worry about the harbor, it'll be fine." He informs me, reaching the bottom of the stairs. I do not respond, only continue to follow the man. When finally in the lobby, I glance around meeting a familiar mask. He smiled at me, holding his hand out to me. I bite my lip and take a large stride, grabbing his hand, and accepting the gesture. His grin grows wider, "Let us head to your new home." His voice was like a soft song, yet slightly unnerving. However; I nod to him, ignoring his tone of voice. He released my hand and ushered me to follow, I do as instructed.
We leave the bank, heading down the stairs to the main street. Four agents greet The Doctor with a slight bow of the head before turning and leading the way. The walk was brisk, people were glancing but not interfering. As we left the harbor the sky grew grey, clouds covering the once bright sky. I tug at the hood, pushing the bad feeling far down. A carriage with covered windows sat waiting. The agent opens the door for us, keeping his head down. The Doctor allows me to step up first, so I do, tugging the heavy cloak up and off my shoulders once out of sight. He follows, ducking his tall figure to fit through the small opening. "We will be heading through Mondstadt to have a smoother ride north, Snezhnaya is quite cold... I am curious how your body will handle it." He chuckles to himself, eyes moving from me to the cloak that sat on my lap. "Feel free to sleep, the ride will take 3 days to complete. We should be at the border at nightfall."
I hum in response, curling up on the seat. I knew I should sleep with this strange man a few feet from me but I was exhausted, my body was running on empty. Pulling the cloak over my shoulder, I lay against the padded seat letting the movement lull me to sleep.
...Dottore's Clone POV...
The ride was quiet, the weak Adeptus slept mere feet from me. Her voice looked at peace, but her body was tense. I dug up some old reports at headquarters about a young and weak Yashka, she died early on, and her description matched the immortal a few feet from me. I was ecstatic to experiment on her. Most of my subjects can't handle my intense techniques, but she could. She was strong, both in will and spirit. I will have to re-work her DNA to merge her body better with the element that kills her.
I remain awake, watching the landscape darken over time. Soon we should be at the border, finally, she can't turn back. The carriage jolts to a stop, causing her to wake with a start. Her eyes are glued to the door, fear and anger fill her eyes. She knew something, I stand and motioned for her to remain quiet in the carriage. Opening the door, I'm met with an angry little Yaksha. He is clearly after his fellow Adeptus. "I have somewhere to be, Adeptus. Please run along." My voice was flat and harsh, he wasn't going to ruin this and a lifetime chance. Another God's plaything to open up and fiddle with was keeping my spirits high.
"Hand her over, she belongs in Liyue. She is meant to protect these lands." His voice was cold, hiding any emotions he had.
"She wishes to come with me, that is what she decided--" I am cut off by her voice from within the carriage.
"Leave Xiao. Not even Morax himself wanted to show up. Why shouldn't a leave?" She stands in the small doorway, eyes locked with his.
"This is your home, (Y/N)." His voice softened, body less tense.
"It was. Until you left me confused and alone for 60-some years. You and your God lied to me, hid from me. I do not care for deceit. I do not care what our relationship was in the past. I am no child that needs to be protected. I am a living, breathing being that you isolated." Her eyes were locked on him, anger filled her eyes. Her breath was now visible as the air becomes chilled.
"We weren't trying to hurt you! It was to allow you to live normally!" Xiao tries to defend Morax's decisions, clearly trying to hide his panic.
"I am not a forgiving person. never have been. I know a lot of my past now, I remember my time of war, I know of my early childhood." She grabs the side of the carriage, frost exploding from her palm. "Rex Lapis, should have realized once I knew the truth my opinion would sour. I am leaving Alatus, nothing will stop me at this point." Her tone was harsh, not sparing his feelings at all. "I won't hesitate to fight you if that is what it takes. Let us leave in peace." She turns and returns to her seat inside. I smile widely, watching my new test subject hide away again.
"You heard her, Adeptus. Leave us." I move back to the door, gracing my hand over the frost that created a beautiful formation.
Xiao remained silent, his head down, hands curled into fists....(Y/N)'s POV...
...Time Skip...The castle was beautiful, the stonework was really brought out by the snow. The cloak draped over my shoulders, it wasn't too cold; I could easily walk in the air with nothing but the clothes on my back. The wind was the only issue, it was harsh, whipping anything loose around like paper. The clone had left us in Mondstadt, allowing the agents to lead me the rest of the way there. Ever since leaving Liyue, I felt a toll on my body. I'd grow tired faster, my body felt heavier. I did inform The Doctor and he wrote it down, making a note of any of my issues.
Now, I was being led into the castle; my eyes run along the walls and floors, studying the layout. The Agents walked me through the corridors, moving deep within the walls. walking down a few flights of stairs, I was deep within the earth; the air was chilled compared to the rest of the building. Before I knew it I was standing in front of a huge door. The agents stopped behind me, not moving any closer. I reach out and open the door slowly, blinding white light hits my eyes; flooding into the dim hallway. "Welcome, (Y/N)! I will be your doctor... Dottore." He smiles leaning forward in his chair.
"It's a pleasure," I say quietly walking further in, once inside my eyes lock with an Ice Abyss Mage floating in a tank a few feet from an empty one.
"Let us get started," he smiled, walking towards me....
I was changed into a loose short gown, the back was quite low, stopping at the base of my back. He laid me down and flicked a needle a few times, ensuring the air was gone. "This will knock you out for a while, relax and allow me to do my work." I flinch slightly as he injects my neck, slowly my eyes grow heavy and I enter into a deep sleep.
...Dottore's POV...
She drifts off, her body fully relaxing. I could feel eyes peering through the door the whole time I worked. "What is it Scaramouche?" I say aloud, flipping the girl over.
"What is your plan? Why bring a God's plaything here?" His voice was cold, I could tell he was glaring at my patient.
"Why else? To study and make another perfect creature." I grab a tube and start the process that wasn't too different from my process with Scaramouche. I slide needles along her spine and wrists to inject her with the ice mage's blood, mixing it with her own Yaksha blood.Slowly, I lift her and open the top of the tank that she would reside in for a few days. Stapping a mask over her face to insure she doesn't drown. I lock her in, turning on the machine. "There, now to wait."
"What's your angle? It can't be just to help her get stronger." Scaramouche crosses his arms, looking over the immortal trapped in the dark water.
"That's for me to know, and you to not worry about." I laugh a bit wiping down my equipment....Xiao's POV...
She was gone, no longer somewhere I could keep an eye on her. I didn't know what to do, as soon as my old name left her lips, it choked me up. I could no longer deny the truth, she remembered everything... if not almost everything. She looked at me with so much hate it was suffocating, not only did she leave but with that lunatic. What did the fatui want with her? Why did he look so happy to be taking her from the lands or Liyue? I was slightly upset at Morax for keeping me from talking to her about it, I know he wasn't trying to harm her but it still stung. (Y/N) was the last of the group, sure she was always standoffish but like all of us... she had her own trauma. He stood on his balcony, staring off into the distance wanting this all to be a bad dream. I let out a long sigh, but in the end, I couldn't stop her. I had to let her leave, I didn't want to make the situation even worse with harsh actions. Now she's in the North, probably being sliced open and tortured to "strengthen" her. That's the part that troubled me the most, she felt the need to change, to prove that she can be better. She truly hadn't changed. She may always be self-conscious about her abilities and put herself down over and over. Anytime we spoke in a way that acknowledged the power issues she'd shut down and disappear for hours on end. We brought up the problem with Morax; however, he'd let her issues slide, letting her injure her body to fainting. That never did sit right with me, so when he decided to leave her be in that village I didn't resist too hard, she deserved a long break. Now looking back, I can see how that did more harm than good.
