I have so many things to do, yet I stand here looking at nowhere. There's a line of people waiting to have their orders picked up and I'm just spacing out.
I see a set of fingers snapping in front of me, making my eyes flutter as I come to my senses again.
"Oi?? Do your work! Don't just stand there!" Says a coworker of mine. I roll my eyes at his statement. He's older than me so he thinks he can boss me around, and the manager had to put him in his place so many times already.
"Sorry, yeah." I get back to writting down orders and sticking them to the extractor hood behind me, keeping that painful smile on my face for hours to cover my exhaustion. It's so much better when I get my shift at the drive through, I can relax more and not have to deal with the long line of people at the front.
I go to college and have a job at a coffee house. I don't have time to study, write essays, work, be social, pay my taxes and get my eight hours everynight. I have a lot in my mind right now, I can't focus on making an iced latte with only two ice cubes. Who cares really.
At the end of the day, I'm closing up the coffee house and taking off my ear piece and leave it in my locker. I lock the doors as I leave and listen to the crunches under my shoes while I walk on the gravel towards my car.
As soon as I get in, I get a call. It's my friend Max. Only her to call me at this hour. Friday is the only day I have a nightshift and the morning free. I always have classes in the afternoon. My luck is not having anywhere to be in the weekend.
I pick up the phone and put it on speaker as I turn on the car engine and drive away from the parking lot.
"HEEYYYYYYYY!!" Max's voice managed to almost destroy my speaker.
"Heya, Max. You do understand that I'm almost passing out of how tired I am, right?"
"Yeah well then why are you driving?" I once again roll my eyes. "Ok, whatever, anyways. We need to decide on how we're meeting up next week."
I sigh "Max, are you sure you don't want to invite someone else?"
"Come oooon, It will be fun! Don't bail on me and send someone else!"
"Uh huh, yeah, what if I just do?"
"Not a choice."
"Oh c'mon Max, you know I don't even know each of their names neither listen to their songs on a daily basis. I'll be boring for you."
"Y/N pleaseee, I have absolutely no one to go with and you KNOW I can't go alone."
I sigh while I think about my answer. I guess she's right. She can't go alone anywhere and if I don't go she'll blame me forever. "Fine. I'll go."
"YAAAAAAYYYYYY THANK YOU Y/N I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I SWEAR YOU WON'T REGRET IT"
"Yeah yeah I just want to know how close to the stage are we going to be."
"Front row, face to face, breathing from the same patch of oxygen."
Oh no. It's too close, what if one of the members trips and falls on me or drop something? I'm probably overreacting. But also probably not.
"Yay for you I guess. But only if you buy us food."
"Wha- BUT I BOUGHT THE TICKETS"
"My sacrifice is worth more than money, Max."
"FINE. Jesus. So remember: Saturday, we meet up at 19h00 at that café near the stadium? The show starts at 20h30. Is that okay?"
"Yeah, yeah it's okay."
"Okaayyyy!!! Yaaayyyy, I'm so excited!!"
"Insert happy noises"
"Oh please, cut it, Y/N. Okay, See you Monday!"
"Bye, Max" I hang up.
I completely forgot she bought those tickets, it was forever ago. Now I only have one week to prepare myself psycologically for next saturday. I'm not really familiar with Kpop stuff. I memorized a few things for my friend's sake, like, I now her favourite songs, even though I forget how they sound like sometimes. I keep forgetting the names of each member of each group.
She gets so happy when she shows me a picture of one of them and I agree when she says they're cute. I mean, they are, but I don't know much beyond that.
It has been 5 years since I moved to South Korea for highschool and I completely fell in love with Seul, so I found a nice college and applied, now I live and work here, but suprise suprise, it's just as exhausting as everywhere else.
I have a couple of friends in college, but Max is my ultimate best friend. Most of the time she's a pain in the ass but she's an amazing person and that's why we're almost inseperable. It's so that we share a dorm in college. In the weekends we go to our own apartments near the school.
As I near my building's parking lot, I felt more and more tired, only thinking about my bed, and how comfy it is. Ohh to be in that bed right now, curled up in the blankets, warmed up and in comfy clothes.
I think I'm pretty exhausted.
