I am not beautifully broken.
I was ripped to shreds
from the inside out.
-Michelle K.

As we leave the campus's parking lot, I begin to wonder what this is all about, yesterday's performance, and today's meet. This isn't typical behavior for Father, he usually wants me as far away of the public eye and of him as possible, unless he needs a punching bag or it's time for our monthly check up, which in this case was two weeks ago.

"What do you think he wants?" I ask Eddy, who's behind the wheel, I tap his seat from behind. The sleeve of my black long sleeved shirt riding up.

He shrugs. "Maybe he found your stash of chocolate from under that floorboard."

"Dick would have emptied it within a month of my..." I wave my hand in a circular motion. "Departure"

"Perhaps he wants to sell your stuffed animal collection."

"He can't sell Dan, Elle, or Drakos, not even Gia. I won't let him" I mock gasp.

I look at the rearview mirror. "Seriously though, Eddy, do you have any idea what he's up to?"

"He's upping your allowance?" He meets my gaze in the mirror.

"I don't think he'd do that." I scoff

"He wants you to move back in??-He looks back to the road.

"I know he wouldn't do that." He taps his fingers against the wheel. What are you hiding Eddy? "I think you know something you're not telling me." He doesn't meet my gaze again. Instead, he turns on the radio, and a female voice fills the car.

Two bodies were found at the shore of Burton Lake, evidence suggests the victims were shot execution style at an unidentified location and were later dumped into the river, which brought them to shore, the bodies were identified as: Jonathan Bell & Marco Castillo. They were presumed to have ties with the Bishop City Organized Crime. Forensics have concluded the victims were murdered between 48 and 52 hours prior to their discovery.....

Burton Lake runs through the city, dividing it in two, but not the Empire.

Bishop City belongs to one family and one family alone, or should I say one man??

The Angelos run this slice of the world.

I check my phone for any texts from Dick. None. Is he still mad at me???.

I pull my Internal Medicine Textbook out of my backpack and read the same 10 pages for the hour long drive out of the city.

As we enter Santa Catrina, I'm reminded of the time I used to live here, all the wealth and power my name held, and the blood it's covered in, the weight I carried.

Unlike Bishop City, Santa Catrina is a divided territory. The Capone and Russo Empires stand side by side. And even though they don't have an alliance, they have an understanding, or so they say.

If there's something Capones know how to do, it's keep secrets.
And obtain them.

And I am, after all, a Capone, the list of secretes I have gathered along the years is longer than my list of personal traits, and that's saying something.

One of those secrets is that Russo and Father have an amicable relationship. If you can call what they like to do together amicable. Or perhaps it's amicable because they do it together.

Eddy maneuvers through the streets, and soon we're in the rich part of the city where the streets scream wealth and the mansions exude opulence.

We turn left on Quintana Street and we're brought face to face with an iron wrought fence, Eddy rolls his window down, grabs a small square control and points it at the gate, pushes a few buttons and it squeaks open.
