So, if you are too tired to speak, sit next to me for I, too, am fluent in silence.
-R. Arnold.

I blow warm air into my hands, which makes my already fogged glasses fog up even more.
Winter, winter, winter.
I internally groan.

Eddy presses his card into the private elevator as I slump into the wall, I usually like walking to the other elevator, but not when it's freezing outside. It makes me want to kill someone.

As we step into the kitchen, I hear footsteps, my muscles immediately lock, until I spot a blob of light blonde hair. Kiara is pacing in my living room.

"You're gonna leave your footprints on the damn carpet, K," She whirls around when she hears my voice.

"Lex!" Her arms wrap around me in a warm embrace, I almost forget she called me by that annoying nickname she has for me.

"What are you doing here?" I walk to the couch, and after draping my jacket on it, I sit down. She literally slumps into it.

"Nothing, I just wanted to see you before the wedding, you know, in case they don't let you leave the house anymore." She chuckles.

"If I'm not allowed to leave the house, I'm gonna commit homicide, premeditated. Besides, I have a contract that states I'm going to finish med school, I have to leave the house in order to do so. "

Kiara's leg bounces up and down, and she keeps scratching a spot on her thigh, back and forth, back and forth. It's stressing me out, I grab the box of cigarettes that's on the coffee table and the lighter, I stick one in my mouth and light it, after a long inhale I hand it to her, she stares at me.

"You know I shouldn't." Her voice is barely above a whisper.

"I know, but I can also feel you're on edge, and it's either gonna be this or alcohol, I'd rather you smoke with me, then throw away three years of your life" Her fingers slightly tremble as she wraps them around the cigarette.

When she takes a drag of it, it dawns on me that we're inside the loft.
Fucking shit.
I leave the box, and lighter on the table, to ensure we don't go trough the whole box, grabbing her jacket and mine, I stand up, "C'mon we're gonna fill the whole house with smoke" I lead her to the balcony, I leave the door open for a couple of seconds after we're outside so the air flows.

When the chill bites at my skin I quickly put on the jacket and sit on the bench next to Kiara, it's rather comfy to be balcony furniture.

Wordlessly, she hands me the cigarette, her purple nails no longer scratch but rather tap her thigh. "You wanna tell me what's on your mind??" I ask her.

"You said you were gonna leave" I should quit, I've thought about it before, I just cant ever bring myself to do so, I take a drag of the cigarette.

"I did" I say, remembering her words: Do what's best for you.

"Do you still plan on doing that?"

"I don't know" I say truthfully, "Maybe after I've gained the Angelo's trust, but there's a possibility that they'll never trust me, I mean, I am the daughter of the rival family's Capo" I exhale the cigarette's smoke trough my nose as I hand it to her once again.
