Hello! I've been so busy in life but I've been gone for years, and that's no fun. So here I am again, with hopefully a much better writing construct 😭.
_________________The sun was rising, and you hadn't noticed until the familiar chirp of birds sounded from the window. You had never actually made it home, due to your intense interest in that damn book, Tobin's Spirit Guide.
The paranormal had always intrigued you, from a young age. This was especially set into motion because- Your childhood home was haunted.
When you were born, your parents were rather young. 20 something, and rebellious as hell. They would fuck around with stuff they shouldn't have, and ended up maming their home a bad place. Your mother ended up leaving, and your dad reshaped himself— For the most part. The rest of your childhood years were, meh. Your parents were great, but they always fought with you, and you never had a say in anything. This caused you to be a little bit of a pushover. And then it got worse. You struggled with a lot. You were constantly thinking of your appearance, how you wanted to lose weight, even though everyone around you could see that you were perfectly fine. People in school never really liked you, since you were a bit of a nerd.
All in all, though, you have become so much better at life throughout the years. Bad habits still stayed, like how you never really ate enough, you hardly slept well, and you always got on the defensive immediately when opposed.
Back to the present. You gave a yawn, and looked to the clock. 5:47AM. Well.. There was no use in sleeping now. You got up, and realized that you were probably the only one awake. The guys had all stayed the night, (including the new guy, Winston Zeddmore). You were about to leave, to walk around a bit, before you had a thought. Egon seemed like he was similar to you— In the way that you were a workaholic. Maybe he'd pulled an all nighter as well? Unlikely, you thought, but you could've sworn that you heard something up in the lab...
Making your way up the stairs, you slowly made your way over to his table, and realized. He was passed out, goggles still on. Luckily, when he dropped, he pulled the soldering tool out from the outlet. You turned, making your way back to the stairs, when a floorboard creaked. You flinched, and looked down to your feet.. Wait. That sound surely didn't come from you. It sounded like it came from... Behind you? Suddenly, a hand was on your shoulder, and you jumped, covering your mouth to silence your squeal. Turning your body, you saw Egon standing there, seemingly wide awake.
"Why in the world are you up right now. You should be at home, getting some rest. We need diligent, well rested workers here." He would speak, his voice monotone and cold as per usual.
"I've been studying. And- I didn't notice the time." You protested with a cross of your arms, and a little huff as you turned your head away. Egon gave a scoff, shaking his head.
"That's no excuse."
"But- you were working all night! You only just passed out, you hypocrite." You remarked as your lips parted. His face shifted, to one of embarrassment? He rubbed the back of his neck and sighed, giving a nod.
"You're right. Usually back talk is.. Ill-advised but, I like your snappy attitude. It'll do good, when dealing with snarky clients. I even feel like it could put someone in their place. Congratulations, recruit, you've surprised me." Your face lit up. Really? Damn, you were doing good. Keeping yourself from a very unprofessional celebration, you gave a warm little smile, and shrugged.
"I appreciate that. Usually people just tell me to shut up. But actually having a say in things? Pretty cool." He gives a smile in return- Although his is mechanical, and cold. He nods once more, and with no other words, he walks back to his lab, resuming his work. That was.. Quick.______________
"Tell me again why we're investigating this place?" Peter commented, brushing some cobwebs out of his way as the team navigated the basement of a residential home. Egon gave him a look, and Ray spoke up with excitement.
"Well, maybe the owners think that this is a leaky tap case, but maybe it's some sort of specter!" It was safe to say that Peter was uninterested, and you can't help but speak up.
"I mean.. Seriously? Are we that pathetic, that we have to take a plumbing job? What, are we gonna tell em' it was a ghost afterall, rack up some morale points?" It seemed just.. Unfortunate that this is where the Ghostbusters ended up. Ray frowns in your direction, frowning slightly.
"Do you not trust me? Come on guys, you saw the PKE go off, and this whole place screams haunted! I'm sure we'll run into someth-" He begins, but is soon cut off by.. Holy shit. You couldn't possibly be seeing this. Sure, you believed in the paranormal, but never did you expect to see a 7 foot tall illuminated spirit parked right in front of you. Everyone yelled- You couldn't even bring yourself to utter more than a squeak. This apparition was black, but it seemed to glow nonetheless. It's eyes, a deep dark red. It's form was mainly sleek, the only defined features being arms with big hands and sharp, shadowy claws, and a head with those piercing eyes. And then, it got worse. It let out a screech, loud enough to make you all cover your ears. It dissipated, leaving you all to question where it could've gone. Of course, it didn't let you wonder for long. You felt something cold behind you.. Almost like little pricks of ice in your back, or tiny little electric shocks. Egon looked to you, and his expression fell. He hit Ray and Peter's arms and pointed at you, before slowly lowering his hand.
"Y/N.. Don't move."___________________

God DAMN it's been forever since I've written anything on here. I hope this is at least sub par— I tried to get something out quick, but then I literally forgot. My apologies!! I know that the transition from being in the firehouse, to the investigation was rocky, but I swear I'll flesh the next chapters out more. Anywho, cliffhanger!
