Chapter Ten

We both stared at the starry sky, neither of us uttering a word. Grass was sticking out of my hair in thousands of directions and there was no doubt in my mind that my makeup was smudged. Did I give a damn? Not particularly. All that mattered was here and now. His thumb gently carressed the top of my hand as I snuggled farther into Dylan.
* Four Hours Earlier *
On a scale of one to ten, how disturbing did I find this current situation. I'd say a definite fifty at the least. Dylan and I had opened the front door and found my brother making out with none other than Ivy flipping Lively. The worst part of it all is that they didn't even bother to break apart when they found us, if anything it got more passionate.
"Eww," I whimper and cover my eyes.
"C'mon. lets get this plan into action," Dylan whispers into my ear and gently pulls me past the horrifying scene. I cover my eyes with my available hand as we walk towards the theatre room. Yeah, they had a flipping theater room in their basement. As soon as we reached the bottom of the staircase, I took my hand off of my face and groaned internally when I saw Ethan and Caycee together on the couch. Well flying sock monkeys, this plan had better work.
Dylan cleared his throat rather obnoxiously, earning their attention. "What movie are we watching?" He asked and removed his hand from mine, instantly wrapping it around my waist and pulling me into him. I smile up at Dylan, ignoring the warm feeling in the pit of my stomach.
"Paranormal Activity," Ethan practically spat back, narrowing his eyes on Dylan's arm. My eyebrows raised in shock at the tension that cracked between the two of them. I narrowed my gaze on Dylan and noticed that his expression was just as menacing as Ethan's. Well, this awkward.
I tentatively tugged Dylan along with me, desperately just trying to sit down. He sat down first and pulled me on top of his lap, resting his chin in the crook of my neck. I shuddered lightly as Dylan's warm breath tickled my skin, relaxing into him. "If he can't see how perfect you are, it's his loss," Dylan said, his voice coming out sincere. A scarlet blush dusted my cheeks as I turned my attention to where the movie was begging.
*
The was no way in hell that I would be able to sleep. What the fudge did I just watch?! Good lord. At the moment, I was curled up in Dylan's lap, my fists entangled in the soft fabric of his long sleeve shirt. I looked at his arms as the fabric began to creep up, and I noticed the red lines that covered the inside of his forearm. Craning my head, I looked up at him in pure shock. Apparently he never noticed that I saw because his eyes were staring murderously at something behind me.
My blue eyes followed his line of sight and my breath hitched in my throat when I saw Ethan and Caycee in a very heated make out session. I swear to the lord that this house was some sort of weird make out escape. The remaining fragments of my heart shattered at that exact moment, and I pushed my face into Dylan's chest.
He gingerly took my hand and pulled me up. "Feel like going for a walk?"
I nodded subconsciously and laced my fingers gratefully with his. "Yeah," was all I could utter, and even then, I couldn't help but cringe at the my voice was a scratchy sound that closely resembled a dying cat. We wandered upstairs and out the front door, walking side by side.
"Dylan?" I ask, chewing on my lip nervously.
"What's up Kat?" He responds with a forced smile. I could tell that something really was bothering him, and I wanted nothing more than to help him. I assumed that the majority of the people in this blasted town saw him as the perfect boy, just like Ethan. However, apparently judgements can be very wrong. For example, I thought Ethan was a gift to this planet, but in reality he was a mother trucking bum face. Well that sounded really weird, and that's coming from me. "Kat?" Dylan persists.
