A/N - Hey guys! I'm the author of this, I would like to mention this is not canon compliant nor is it going to have canon events. Thank you! Enjoy reading.

She lost him, didn't she.
She watched him get killed in front of her own eyes.
Ellie Williams, officially now without a parental unit, though she could only help but think about how he sacrificed himself for her, though he knew how mad she was at him, which she pondered about in his house.

Here she was, in his house, thinking about the memories he might have had here, she picked up a picture frame and saw Joel and his once alive daughter, Sarah. Sighing, she put the frame down and went to a room that was presumably his.

A guitar, odd.
She strummed one of the strings, though it looked like it was in horrible condition, oddly enough, it was still in tune.
She began to play a song, a song he sang her to sleep with once, obviously, before he passed.

"Remember me, though I have to say goodbye,"
The memories began to flood into her brain, she wasn't mad anymore, how could she be? The times he went through hell just to protect her, was she even worth it?

"Remember me, don't let it make you cry,"
Ellie began to cry more, began to have tears stream down her face, not too rapidly, but it was definitely faster than she wanted. She smiled softly through the tears, how a hard shelled man became a man she wanted to so badly call her dad.
"For even if I'm far away, I hold you in my heart,"
She couldn't play anymore, choked sobs coming out of her, she sat the guitar down and pulled out one of his flannels from the ruined closet, holding it close and smelling it, missing Joel, missing her dad, missing the man who never left her.

"I sing this secret song to you each night we are apart,"
She was crying loudly, she didn't care if a clicker could hear her, she missed him already. She felt horrible, the man died thinking she hated him, god no, god. No. She cried louder at the thought of that.

"Remember...me?"
She walked to his grave, walked solemnly as she sighed, laying down the flannel and the picture frame of his daughter and him. She learned to not scream, learned not to cry, tragedy happened all the time. God she couldn't help it though. She cried out loudly.

She screamed.

She screamed loudly.

She put on the spare flannel she picked up from his closet and put it on, leaving the make-shift grave, crying. She felt guilty, hurt, so much hurt. She sobbed even louder and ran, ran all the way to what she used to call home.

Home was a funny word, she just lost hers. Ellie Williams just lost her home, her home being Joel Miller, her only parental figure she had left. She couldn't deal with it, but she had to live, and had to honor him.
