"In a river the color of lead,
Immerse the baby's head,
Wrap her up in the news of the old world,
Dump her on the doorstep, girl,
This night has opened my eyes,
And I will never sleep again,
You kicked and cried like a bullied child,
A grown man of 25,
Oh he said he'd cure your ills,
But he didn't and he never will."

"It's me, it's okay baby girl," said Joel. Ellie gasped for air, Joel holding her while she cried out.
She didn't recognize him.
He cried.

All he could do is slowly walk with her, limping towards getting her away from there.
She cried, blood, sweat, salty tears running down her face.
He fell into the snow with her, crying with her, screaming with her as they realized what just happened.
What happened to his girl, what happened to Sarah...Ellie.

"Oh, please save your life,
Because you've only got one,
The dream has gone,
But the baby is real,
Oh you did a good thing,
She could've been a poet,
She could've been a fool,
Oh, you did a bad thing,
And I'm not happy
And I'm not sad."

He was sitting looking at Ellie laying on the couch, her face was stained with dirt, blood, sweat, lots of acne.
Realistically? They could only come across showers at a few certain moments.
He wished he never met her, never took the job, he would not have gotten so attached, ever.
Here he is, the best mistake he made, having his daughter...back?

"A shoeless child on a swing,
Reminds you of your own again,
She took away your troubles,
Oh, but then again,
She left pain."

She was his life now.
If he lost her, he lost himself again, he needed to get her to safety. He wanted her to be safe.

He couldn't have her without losing a part of her that day.
He would tell her a joke, no laugh.
No puns.
No...No ellie.

"Oh, please save your life,
Because you've only got one,
The dream has gone,
But the baby is real,
Oh you did a good thing,
She could've been a poet,
She could've been a fool,
Oh, you did a bad thing,
And I'm not happy
And I'm not sad."
