"The Crimson Rain Sought Flower". "Yes your highness"? It was just the two of us now, Xie Lian and I. We had just returned from our last mission and we were now relaxing in Xie's small but cozy temple. He was cooking us dinner while I stood with my back against the counter.

"I don't believe you've ever called me that before". "How do you like it"? "Hard to say. It feels different hearing it from you but not bad". "Different how"? I tilted my head to the side with a smile on my face. "Like, you treasure me. Um by the way, do you remember when we first met?

You were my groom or rather, you were pretending to be a ghost on Mount Yujun". "I wasn't really". "Then what reason did you have for being there"? "Two possibilities". I went stand behind him. "First, I was there to see you". I whispered in his ear before turning around. "Second, I was bored. Guess which".

"Well I wouldn't be surprised if you were just bored". He said placing the knife down. "Since you seem to have so much time on your hands". I laughed nervously. "Speaking of which, your quite different from the rumors". "How did you know who I really was? I hide it so well".

"Ugh that's true, I tested you in every way. You had to be a devastation but beyond that you dress in all red, you're ridiculously powerful and afraid of nothing. So you must be the Crimson Rain Sought Flower. One who strikes fear into the hearts of all". He said while placing the vegetables into the pot.

"Is that good or bad"? I asked smiling. He turned to me giving me a closed eye smile. "You tell me". He chuckled softly. A jar started to shake getting both our attention. It rolled itself over to the door resulting in Xie Lian opening it.

We both knew what was inside it. It was the young girl Xie Lian had met when he was a general in war. During our last mission myself and his two friends learned about their past together. It was a shame she had to endure so much.

The two of them went outside and talked for a while before Xie decided to head back in. "Banyue wasn't trapped at the pass by any curse, she choose to stay there. Right before Pei junior took his avatar. Why didn't he slay the spirits? Seems needless. Feeding all of those people to them".

"There were too many of them and his avatar was weak. So appeasing the grudge was far less trouble. Those in Heaven don't value human lives as much". "You said someone's avatar is weak? And yet yours is so strong".

"Cause you're looking at the real thing". I said proudly. "Huh, that so". He cupped my have forcing me to look at him. His gaze was intense as he looked over every single detail. I smiled at him causing him to become flustered. He was cute when he was fkuatered.

"Looks nice". "So you approve of my mask"? "Of course. It's lovely but I um. I'd still like to take a look at your real face". He paused realizing what he just said. "Never mind I was just teasing. We should eat". He made his way over to the big stew pot only to find out it had burned. "Hold on I'll cook us another pot". "I will show you my face later. If you'll wait".

"You've been here a while. You don't need to report? Or check in"? He asked as we laid down on the floor next to each other. "To ghosts, we all mind our own business, plus, I'm the boss. How's that"? "The ghost realm sounds nice. Though I thought it would be more organized like Heaven".

"None of us like to be tied down". "Have you met them"? He sat up looking at me. "The other ghost kings"? "Uh huh". "Qi Rong too"? He asked excitedly. "I stopped by his place once but he ran off, the rat". I said with my eyes closed and arms behind my head.

"You probably wasn't there to chat". "We shared a few words". I opened one eye. "What came next earned me my title". "Is Qi Rong the type to pick a fight"? "Yeah, with me and also Black Water". He laid back down.
