"you're kidding.."
i gaped at the massive driveway ahead, eyes trailing to the even bigger house at the end of it. gigi shook her head, arms crossed proudly across her middle. "nope. it's pretty sick right? even nicer inside, super fancy, really nice jacuzzi- or so i'm told."
i gave her a knowing glance in the mirror, swerving in the gate. "uh huh.." brett leaned forward between the front seats, clearly dazzled. "it's like, if royal people had a secret house."
"please tell me there's booze." myc spoke up from the backseat, almost pleading.
"there's a bar inside, he said we could take full advantage." gigi replied, clicking off her seatbelt as i parked in the massive gravel yard right outside of the front door. andre whistled, marveling at the sight before him. "man, those doors are massive.."
i clicked off my seatbelt, quickly opening the door and stepping out to get a proper look at the house. well i say house, it was more of a mansion. very old, super fancy. the ivy that crawled up the sides was kept neat and trim, covering the red bricks almost completely. the windows shone brightly, and the doors; the doors were larger than life itself, dark oak with big white pillars either side. it was old money, through and through.
reagan threw open the trunk, pulling out all suitcases and haphazardly discarding them on the ground until she found her own. glenn grumbled as she passed him, bending down to get his own suitcase with great difficulty. i grabbed my rucksack from the pile of discarded luggage, following reagan with a happy smile. "isn't this awesome?"
she flashed me a smile, nodding. "it's insane. i mean, i've never stayed anywhere this fancy in my life."
"ditto."
"hey, you need some clothes for the weekend?" she laughed lightly. "i mean, i'm guessing you do."
i nodded, embarrassed smile making its way to my face. "yeah, that'd be pretty good. thanks ray."
gigi hurried past us and to the door where she bent down. her hand slipped under the pristine doormat that lay before the door, searching around underneath for a few moments before producing a key. i snorted. "under the doormat, really?"
she shrugged with a slight grin as she unlocked the door. "he's not the brightest."
"clearly." andre quipped as we followed gigi inside. i instantly looked up, marveling at the magnificent sight. a massive crystal (i'm assuming) chandelier hung overhead, twinkling in the suns rays from the skylight above it. paintings and animal heads covered the stone and wooden walls, adding a certain coziness on this vast hallway. gigi left her suitcase in the middle of this area, starting off to her right insinuating that she clearly knew the place well.
i followed, plopping my rucksack against a wall and leaving my lab coat strewn atop it. the next room was again massive, a bar and lounge area in one. massive couches, a few tvs, an enchanting brick fireplace. it was heavenly.
gigi walked behind the bar, obviously ready to start drinking. it was about 5pm by now, the perfect time to unwind and relax, especially in a mansion. "dyou think we should light a fire?" she nodded to the fireplace. it was a little chilly outside, short and light gusts of wind blowing. i nodded. "yeah, it'd be cozy right?"
"agreed." she gathered some glasses together, grabbing a bottle of some sort of alcohol. "can anyone light a fire though-"
"i got it!" i quickly spoke up, smiling brightly. she raised an eyebrow as i walked over to the fireplace. "you can light a fire?"
