It had been a week since the announcement of the test. We were all nervous. We knew nothing about what it meant or why it wasn't done at the school.

"You up Theo?" i opened his door and stuck my head in to see his bed in disarray and him asleep on the floor. I tried to wake him up by slamming his door and opening it again. Which, of course worked like a charm.

"Jeez I'm up," he rubbed the back of his head and groggily replied. I was satisfied so i let him be. Walking back to the kitchen. Val and Dune were up which was a surprise as they weren't usually awake this early.

"Hey Val," i greet the woman as i grab my mug off the counter.

"Morning Ebony," she gave the most genuine smile she could, which wasn't much. Dune just glared at me. He had only found out about the medallions last night and he was less then pleased at the discovery. Del was already out the house, he was going to the cafe to bring back breakfast for me and Arthur, seeing as a: he didn't know Val or Dune were awake and b: neither he nor Theo actually ate breakfast.

"I found about what you used my medallions for," Dune kept eye contact with me as i walked around the kitchen cleaning up after my brothers.

"Healing is the worst way to use them. Im disappointed," i could tell he was trying to be as nice as he could. His face said that he would kill me if i said anything out of line.

"Im sorry sir," he insisted we called him sir. No idea why. My reply made him plaster a disgusting smile on his ugly face. He was a skinny bald fish monger who hardly got any earnings. I felt bad for Val, she was his exact opposite, she was a kind short brunnet woman who always seemed to be smiling but only when she wasn't around her husband. I kept my glare on Dune as a sat down at the island. His grin fell as Arthur walked out of his room.

"Come here," he pointed to Arthur whom was already in his school uniform. We all knew what would happen if we didn't do as he said so Arthur obliged, anger shown in his face and eyes.

"Sir," he greeted the man.

"You used my medallions. You know how much those are worth!?" he began to scream at Arthur who flinched slightly but kept a firm gaze as we were all used to this by now.

"I do know sir," Arthur was unfazed.

"If you know then why did you steal them from me!? I could've used them for much better things then healing a stupid girl," he emphasized girl. I was his least favorite even though he hated all of us.

"Well because if she had bleed out and died and you were found with medallions what could've healed her. It would paint the scene showing the blood would've been on your hands," Arthur retorted.

"He's right. If i died you would be the one in jail,' he knew nothing about laws so we could lie straight to his face. I smirked as we had outsmarted him, once again.

"Whats all the commotion?" Theo re-arranged his hair, walking out his room.

"nothing ," Dune clenched his jaw. Me and Arthur exchanged a glance as we knew he had given up.

"Alright," Theo made his way to the fridge to get out a drink. We all turned our heads to the door, Del entered holding up his bag of pastries. I ran over to him and snatched the paper bag out of his hands and brought it to the table. I reached into the bag and pulled out a pastry we called Bonbon, it was a soft pastry with jam inside. I instantly took a bite while putting my shoes. The boys came to meet me at the entry way as we all put on our shoes. I notice Arthur had a different kind of pastry in his hand. We all picked up our school bags and rushed out the door. I shouted a muffled goodbye to Val with a bite of Bonbon in my mouth. We walk our usual rout, meeting up with Fia but instead of going all the way out the square we take an early turn to the left making our way through a long road. We walked up to the tall building they called the town center. Though it really didn't look like much. It was a tall building like every one around it. The only thing to separate it from the rest was a big blue banner hanging rom one of the higher windows that read 'Town Center' in bold white letters.

"I so don't want to take this test," Theo groaned.

"Same," the rest of us all replied at the same time. We shared the annoyance.

We walked into the building expecting to be able to take the lift to the seventh floor. When we stepped towards the lift we came in sight of a sign barley legible that said the lift was out of order and that we would have to walk all the way up to the seventh floor by stair. Theo and Arthur both tilted their heads back.

"Could this get any worse," Theo asked rhetorically.

"I hope not," Arthur answered.

Another group of students walked in behind us also noticing the out of order sign.

"We seriously have to walk all the way to the seventh bloody floor," i heard a familiar voice from the new group sigh. I turned my head to see Ever standing a meter behind me to my left.

"Hey Ebony," another from the group greeted me. It was my seat mate from yesterday.

"Oh hey!" i smiled at him trying to shake off whatever unfamiliar feeling it was that had suddenly consumed me.

"You know him?" Del asked surprised.

"Ya, he's my seat mate for maths,"

"Me and Relko are friends actually i didn't know he was your seat partner," Del smiled at me then back at the boy i had just learned was named Relko.

"Were going to be late if we don't start up those stairs," Fia tried to get our attention back to the task at hand.

"She's right," Ever was the first to speak up after her. We all agreed that we really didn't want to be late for the unknown test. We all started to hike our way up the stairs. No one wanted to talk as we were all gasping for breath as the stairs seemed to get steeper and steeper.

"Hey you ok, i heard what happened after i left you last weekend," Ever started to ask me between gasps.

"Ya, we stole some medallions from my uncle. Thanks," i smile also trying to catch my breath in between words.

"That's good," he couldn't think of a better response, I'm sure.

"Im glad," he continued.

"I would've been fine anyway," i try my best to seem tough. Which i definitely am but lately its been hard to prove.

"Im sure," he rolled his eyes. He started to get on my nerves which was very hard to do. I had to put up with three brothers for the sixteen years of life. I scoffed in response. We made our way up just a couple more steps as we finally met the landing to our floor.

"Finally," i make my way to the front and swing the door open. The door opened to reveal four other doors. One red one green one blue and a plain one at the very end of the hall. We all just automatically walk to the plain one, seeing as that had been our instructions we received the day before. We opened the door to a completely empty white room lined with unfamiliar desks. They looked nothing like the desks we had at school. They were white and made out of a hard metal. We all stood in the doorway just taking a minute to look around the room and to gather information about our surroundings. Another plain white door at the back of the room that a teacher soon emerged out of. I recognized her as Anebeth Fall.

"Your'e early!" she smiled at the now ten of us.

"Lets see," she took out a small note book that looked like had a list on it.

"Theo, Del, Fia, Relko, and Arthur go into the room i just came from and take seats anywhere. The rest of you can take your seats in this room," she smiled at all of us as the names she called walked to the back. Great im being separated from everyone i know. I rolled my eyes.

"Can you tell us what the test is about?" one of the two people i didn't know asked.

"Sadly i cant," she gave us an empathetic smile as she usually did. I was just mad at the world so before anyone could say anything else i walked to the seat that was closest to me and sat down resting my chin in my hand.

"What?" i ask the group as they all starred. They all looked between each other and had a silent agreement not to bicker and just do what the professor asked of us. Ever decided to take a seat to my left. For some reason he was always on my left. I was annoyed at him so i didn't bother looking his way but i could feel his eyes burning a hole in the side of my head.

Thank you for reading! but I need some help, should this stay fantasy or should I take a sci-fi twist?
