On the banks of Tamsa river, the pious Ashram of Valmiki was stood with its spiritual glory. It bustling with activities, young students were chanting mantras, the other sages were doing yagya, everyone was busy in some way or the other.

The resplendent Devi Sita, looking like a goddess fallen from heavens, was sitting amongst other ascetic women, Those venerable ladies took care of her like she was their own daughter.

"Ab jaane ki aagya de, Mata. Luv Kush ke aane ka samaye ho gaya hai." Devi Sita said standing.

"Awashya, Janki. Kuch karya ho toh bata dena." They said.

Devi Sita joined her hands in front of those venerable women, and then went to her humble cottage. She walked to her small kitchen outside the hut, it just a stove, looking for essentials to prepare dinner, and realised the scarcity of firewood.

But before she could react to that, the familiar sound of anklets fell on her ears. Her heart sank hearing them, tears were quick to form in her eyes.

"Shiromani !" She turned around exclaiming the name that was always in the back of her mind.

"Sitey Maa ?" Rameshwari breathed out, seeing her foster mother after so long. She was just as resplendent as before, only more tired looking now.

A sad smile appeared on the face of Devi Sita, seeing her Shiromani, the daughter of her Raghunath, after so long.

Tears were now blurring the vision of Rameshwari also, what she had suspected was true. The twins were her brothers, born from her Sitey Maa.

"Luv Kush, jaao van se lakdiya le aao." Devi Sita said in a heavy voice.

"Jo aadesh Mata." The twins nodded and rushed away.

Now that both Devi Sita and Rameshwari were alone, tears freely fell from their eyes. The Ram-suta didn't waste another moment and tightly hugged her foster mother.

"Sitey-Maa..." Rameshwari sobbed in her arms.

"Ha Shiromani." Devi Sita cooed caressing her head.

Years of separation, years of yearning, years of longing, came out in forms of tears from both their eyes. Devi Sita looked at her, and chuckle left her lips.

"Itni si thi tum." She said pointing till her hips. "Aur ab itni badi ho gayi." Devi Sita said looking at her tall height.

Rameshwari smiled while wiping her tears.

"Tumhe dekh ke pata chalta hai ki kitna samaye beet Gaya." She said.

"11 varsh." Rameshwari said.

"Hmm." Devi Sita nodded caressing her face. "Sab kaise hai ?" She asked.

"Pitashree ko chhod kar sab sukh se hai. Woh bas saamne muskurate hai, kintu bhitar se woh tanik bhi sukhi nahi hai, aapke bina." Rameshwari said.

"Jaanti hu mai ki virah ki peeda unko bhi hai." Devi Sita said.

"Toh laut aayiye." Rameshwari said.

At that Devi Sita took a deep breath, before taking a step back and turning away.

"Nahi." She said.

"Kosal ke bhavishya ko yaha van mei rakha hai. Rajkumaro ko yaha aise rehna shobha nahi deta. Sitey-Maa, chaliye mere saath. Aapka sthaan yaha nahi Ayodhya mei hai." Rameshwari said.

"Nahi jaa sakti." Devi Sita said.

"Par kyu ?" Rameshwari asked.

"Praja ke sukh hetu, mujhe yahi rehna hoga. Mera sthaan Raj-mahal mei nahi hai." Devi Sita said in a low voice.

"Aur aapka sukh ?" Rameshwari asked.

"Mai Maharani hu Praja ki. Sadev rahungi. Praja meri santaan hai aur ek maa ke liye santaan ke sukh se bada koi sukh nahi. Kartavya sabse upar hai, Shiromani." Devi Sita said.

Rameshwari sighed, she can't argue with the responsibility of duties.

"Nath ko mat batana." Devi Sita said.

"Kya nahi batayu ? Yeh na batayu ki unke santaan yaha van mei reh rahe hai ? Ya yeh na batayu ki aap kis awastha mei yaha hai ?" Rameshwari asked.

"Kuch bhi nahi bataogi tum, Shiromani, tumhe meri saugandh." Devi Sita said turning around and facing her again.

"Parantu kyu ?" Rameshwari asked.

"Mere karan mere pati durbal ho jaaye, yeh mai nahi chahungi. Maine itne varsho tak yaha iss ashram mei vicharan keval iss liye kiya taaki mere Ram, mere Maharaj apne Rajdharm ka palan kar sake. Mera tyaag vyarth na jaane do, Shiromani." Devi Sita said.

"Devi ka kathan sarvatha uchit hai, Rajkumari." A manly voice said.

Rameshwari looked to the side, only to see an extremely enlightened sage with a divine aura around him.

"Pranam Brahmarishi Valmiki." Rameshwari bowed to him.

"Kalyanamastu." Valmiki blessed. "Rajkumari, maine aapke Pita ke jeevan par granth likha hai, Brahmadev ki kripa se mai woh jaanta hu ho chuka hai aur woh bhi jaanta hu jo hone wala hai. Iss liye mera anurodh hai ki jo jaisa ho raha hai waisa hone dijiye." He said.

"Yadi yahi aagya hai aap dono ki toh thik hai. Mai kisi ko kuch nahi kahungi. Kintu mai prayas awashya karungi ki aap dono ka milan karwayu." Rameshwari said.

"Milan ka toh nahi pata, kintu yadi antim shwas se pehle ek baar mujhe mere Nath ke darshan miljaye, Shiromani, toh woh mere liye paryapt hoga." Devi Sita said.

"Awashya Mata ! Aap keval mujhe ek varsh ki avadhi dijiye. Fir aap dono ka milan awashya hoga." Rameshwari said.

By then Luv Kush came to the cottage, with firehood in their hands. Seeing their Gurudev, they bowed to him before handing them to Devi Sita.

"Luv Kush, tum dono atyant Madhurvaani mei Pitashree ki katha gaate ho. Kya tum unke samaksh prastuti karoge ?" Rameshwari asked.

"Maharaj Ram ke samaksh ?" Luv asked.

"Kya aisa sambhav hai ?" Kush asked.

"Ha. Maharaj ek bada Ashwamedh yagya aayojit kar rahe hai. Ek varsh baad Rajsuya hoga. Sabhi log aayenge, mai tum dono ko nimantran deti hu ki tum dono waha aao aur Ram-katha sunao." Rameshwari said.

"Kya hum jaa sakte hai Gurudev ?" They asked.

"Awashya." Valmiki said, elating the twins.

"Ab aagya dijiye." Rameshwari said joining her hands in front of them all.

"Ek kshan." Devi Sita said.

She quickly went inside the hut and soon came with a small bowl pot in her hands.

"Isme gud wali kheer hai. Mujhe pata hai ki Rajkumari ko yeh atyant priya hai." Devi Sita said handing it to her.

Rameshwari looked at the bowl in her hands, she smiled at Devi Sita and headed back to her horse Vajra, before tears once again escaped her eyes.

Luv Kush looked between their mother and Gurudev, with confusion.

"Maa, kya aap Rajkumari jaanti thi ?" Luv asked.

"Rajkumari ko kaun nahi jaanta putra." Devi Sita said.

"Waise Mata, Rajkumari ko dekh ke smaran aya ki aapne kaha tha ki humari bhi ek jiji hai, jo Pitashree ke saath rehti hai. Kya woh bhi aisi hi hongi ?" Kush asked.

"Ha putra. Bilkul aisi hi hai." Devi Sita said with a sad smile.
