One week. That's how long it'd been since Jamie and Lilly got together... One excruciatingly long week, with the two of them attached at the hip, where you found Jamie. Lilly was also, hand interlocked in his head, leaning against his shoulder. It's been one week since that conversation in the hall of the hotel. One week since he overheard me singing the love song I'd written about him.
One whole week since, I thought I misread him in the hallway when it seemed like he was going to reject Lilly to hang out with me, but I had to be wrong because he hadn't done anything like that since happily spending every spare second with her.
The cast is officially over halfway through the press tour now, and just like that, we were out of LA and in an entirely in a new city for the week, Toronto, Canada. "What do you mean we're stuck here?" Lilly asks the coordinator of the premiere, who'd phoned and asked to speak to the entire cast. I looked out the window beside me, watching as clumps of snow fall down, so thick I could barely make out the building across from our hotel, only the blurry haze of lights visible through the blizzard. "Aren't their snowplows for this sort of thing?"
The premiere was supposed to be tomorrow night, but it'd been cancelled due to weather and safety concerns. All of their press had been moved to zoom and would be done from the hotel, as it didn't look like any of us would be able to make it out tomorrow. "Just stay in and wait it out," the woman says, speaking to all of them. "The premiere will go on, just on another day, and you'll have to do your own glam for the zoom interviews, seeing as hair and makeup won't be able to make it to you."
"Okay," Bailey nods, despite the person on the phone not being able to see her, "thanks, Jaqueline."
"Stay safe, you guys," she says, sighing. I'm sure having to reschedule all the in-person interviews to zoom and move the date of the premiere was a lot of work. She must be exhausted. "Call me if you need anything."
Plopping down on the queen-sized bed behind her once the call is over, Trinity questions, "so, we're stuck here? No exploring the city tonight?"
I glance out the window again. According to the news, this storm was massive, even for the natives of Toronto, that are more used to weather like this. We'd arrived in thin dress coats and unpractical shoes; there was no way any of us could go out in weather like this without freezing. "I think it's a bit too cold, Trin," I shrug sadly, also disappointed we can't explore the new city.
"It's not so bad," Lilly shrugs, trying to cheer my younger sister up; I watch as she moves across the room to stand beside Jamie, tucking herself into his side as she interlocks their hands, leaning her head on his shoulder affectionately. "Being snowed in could be fun," she continues, shooting her a smile. Then, she looks up at Jamie, adding in a much quieter voice, "and romantic."
I have to resist the urge to roll my eyes. It's clear Lilly is the kind of girlfriend who's very affectionate, and there's nothing wrong with that. If she were with a guy like Jack- who's currently watching her, sadly; he'd embrace it and come up with some equally cheesy thing to say in response. Jamie's not that type of guy, something she hasn't seemed to grasp onto yet.
I move over beside him, gently knocking my hip against his leg, a small gesture to comfort the boy, "is it?" Jamie asks, completely missing her romantic line, which she was hoping he'd reply to with something equally affectionate.
I have to bite my lip to stifle laughter, a smile tugging at the corners of my lips, amused by my best friend and his oblivious nature. It wasn't quite so amusing whenever he'd been oblivious to my feelings, but it was kind of funny when it was aimed toward Lilly. "Yeah," she places her hand on his bicep, turning to face him so she's standing in front of him and not beside him, "wanna go find my room?"
