Cameron
I was glad that I could walk with her. I would be her first friend in Oregon, and I could show her around.
"So, where did you move from?" I asked her to start a conversation.
"Tennessee."
"Oh, really? Some of my family lives in Tennessee. What part did you live in?"
"Nashville, what city does your family live in?"
"Memphis."
I felt like I was asking a lot of questions, but I wanted to get to know her.

Dixie
I kind of liked this unexpected company. He seemed nice, and I was glad that I found a friend before I went to school.
"So how old are you, Dixie?"

"16, what about you?"

" I'm 16 too! Do you have your licence?"

"No, my mom won't let me. She says it is a waste of time if I don't have a car."
I waited a minute to talk because I really didn't know what to say.

"Why don't you tell her you can drive her car?"

I laughed a little sarcastically "It will be a cold day in hell before my mother let's me drive her car."

He chuckled a little bit. "I'm sorry."

"It really not a big deal to me. I don't care anyway." I lied

It got quiet for a few minutes and I thought about how that is one of the things I really wanted but couldn't have because of my mom.

"So, do you wanna go swimming tommorow?"

"Umm, sure. That sounds fun" I said as we turned the corner and caught a glimpse of our houses.

"Well, I'll see you tommorow."

"Okay, bye Cam."

He turned around and smiled. At first I wasn't sure if he would get mad that I called him that, but it seemed fine.
