Chapter 1
The Fukuzawa Family"Good morning Dazai-sama." Atshushi, the 20 year old personal servant of Dazai greeted drawing the curtains apart.
Dazai's bandage covered body illuminated by the light that passed through the transparent glass window.
Dazai groaned as he sat up, trying to hold in the dry coughs and wheezing, not really want to worry Atshushi the first thing in the morning.
It was a cold day, Last week of October, when the temperature started dropping signalling of the upcoming winter.
Helped by Atshushi in getting fresh and ready for the day, Dazai left his room, walking towards the dining hall, closely followed by Atshushi.
Dazai didn't talk much, as he finds it very irritating when he cough or wheeze even when he tries to normally breath. Yeah, he's never going to talk.
The picture that hung on the wall caught Dazai's eyes as they walked downstairs. It was the family picture of him and his adoptive family.
Dazai scowled. He didn't like how he was packed inside warm clothes while the rest were wearing normal outfits in the photo.
"Dazai-sama. Your family is waiting for you downstairs." Atshushi reminded the fragile boy softly.
Dazai nodded and started moving again. Many memories started to cloud Dazai's mind.
"You good for nothing brat!" His father scolded the 10 year old, little Dazai who collapsed, gasping for breath on the ground with an axe in his hands.
Pieces of woods were scattered around the boy, as he started coughing holding his chest in pain.
Trying to get air into his burning lungs, Dazai didn't realise his father lifting him up by his shirt collar.
He necessarily didn't feel the slaps he received. And his fading mind didn't register the fact that his father dropped him back on the ground and walked away.
It wasn't the first time he had an attack. But this episode seemed severe somehow.
Unable to breathe properly, his vision welcomed darkness.
It was all darkness. Until he opened his dead eyes again to see a kind face like his late mother looking down at him.
"Hello there, Dazai-kun. I'm Mori, your doctor. How do you feel?" The man asked.
Dazai didn't respond but looked around searching for someone. "Father?"
The doctor's face contorted into what looked like a sad smile as he responded. "He was here a while ago. He left."
"He abandoned me?" Dazai asked nonchalantly, surprising Mori.
Mori had tried to hide the fact that his father left him here in the hospital permanently, but it looked like Dazai already predicted his father's moves.
