Chapter 2
The Cat and the Cafe(I wanna inform you beforehand that this story might not be interesting to read. Not many events are happening here and it may look like some sort of rushed plot. To tell you the truth, even me, the author is not proud of this story. Yet, this is my idea and like every other books, this story deserves to be published. Even though I don't like it, it's still my idea and I ain't gonna abandon it. You've been warned. You can proceed, only if you want. This is a yaoi story and there will be a smut in the upcoming chapter.)
The boy started following the cat. He didn't mind the growing cold and shivering body. He forgot his parents warnings to stay away from furry animals as they both navigated through the turns and roads, streets and buildings and finally stood infront of a big, grand cafe.
The cat pushed open the door using his head and entered the cafe.
"Oh, Natsume? You're back-" A murky red haired man greeted when he heard the bell rang, but cut off by hearing the bell ringing again.
He looked up and saw a boy wearing thick clothes and body almost covered in bandages, entering the cafe.
The man slightly widened his eyes seeing a customer at closing hours, but welcomed him anyway.
"Good evening. My name is Oda Sakunosuke." The man slightly smiled. "What would you like to order?"
Dazai didn't reply, but looked around the cafe with tired, half lidded eyes, probably searching for the cat.
The cafe was silent, and Oda narrowed his eyes hearing wheezing sounds from the boy. Not only does he seemed like having trouble breathing, he was also slightly shivering too.
Oda sighed and walked towards his customer and guided him to one of the tables.
"I'll prepare coffee while you decide what you want to order." Oda said. "May I have your name?"
"... Dazai Osamu." Dazai croaked out, followed by a light cough.
"I'll be right back." Oda smiled and walked back towards the kitchen.
Dazai seemed to be interested in the man now, rather than the cat, as he watched every movements of Oda with dull, yet sharp eyes.
Oda could feel Dazai's eyes studying his every moves, but continued to ignore it. With one glance at how he's behaving, Oda could deduce that Dazai must be from a wealthy family and is not used to interacting with others.
"Say, Dazai-san, why were you walking around the streets in the cold?" Oda tried to strike some conversation, but you all know how that would end.
In the Fukuzawa mansion, everything was in chaos. Young master Dazai has disappeared.
Fukuzawa and Mori returned from work to see Chuuya and Atsushi running around anxiously searching for Dazai.
"How did you not notice Dazai sneaking out?" Fukuzawa asked coldly.
"I deeply apologise sir. I was out in the garden, collecting vegetables for dinner. When I returned, I couldn't find Dazai-sama in his room or anywhere in the mansion." Chuuya bowed his head, as Atsushi continued searching.
"What happened to Dazai-chan?" A new voice was heard from behind them and they immediately turned around to see Poe standing there along with Ranpo.
"Poe-kun, we can't find Dazai-chan anywhere!" Mori exclaimed and joined Atsushi in looking for him.
Ranpo was about to follow, when his attention suddenly turned to the second note placed beside his note.
Ranpo resisted the urge to pinge his eyebrows at Dazai's recklessness and their servants panicked state.
"This note says Dazai-chan is out there somewhere taking a walk." Ranpo informed.
The mansion was silent for a moment.
"WHAT!?" Everyone yelled hearing what Ranpo said. Dazai decided to take a walk in the evening chilly temperature when he was recovering from a recent attack!?
Back to the cafe, Dazai was slowly sipping the coffee prepared by Oda. Oda sat across from him, studying the younger boy with his gentle eyes.
Suddenly, a red bike stopped in front of the cafe. Dazai slightly flinched hearing the familiar roar of the bike and his hold on the cup's handle tightened.
Dazai instinctively looked down when the rider opened the door to the cafe and entered. Oda stood up to greet his customer.
"Good evening. My name is Oda Sakunosuke. What would you like to order?"
"... Actually, I'm here to pick him up." The man said, pointing towards Dazai.
"Chuuya..." Dazai groaned. "Why did you come here?"
Chuuya sighed. "Like I said, I'm here to pick you up, Dazai-sama. Fukuzawa-sama won't be happy when he hears about your adventurous tale."
"I'm not going with you." Dazai stared out of the window, not even glancing at Chuuya.
"You know you're not supposed to walk around in this cold weather. We must get going before it gets even cold." Chuuya tried to reason with him. However...
"I'm not going with you!" Dazai insisted.
Chuuya rubbed his temple and took out his cellphone. He dialled a number and waited for the other end to pick up.
"Chuuya." A voice called through the phone.
"Ranpo-sama. I found Dazai-sama. But he's refusing to come with me." Chuuya informed.
"Give him the phone. I'll deal with it." Ranpo ordered.
"Yes sir!" Chuuya replied handing Dazai the cell phone.
Dazai reluctantly bought the phone to his ear. "...Hello?"
Dazai listened to what Ranpo was saying as he glanced down. After a few moments of silence, Dazai stood up and handed Chuuya back his phone and walked out without uttering a word.
Chuuya looked down and saw the call ended. With a sigh of relief, he bowed to Oda. "Thank you for taking care of him. I assume this would cover the bill of whatever he ordered."
Chuuya placed the money beside the unfinished cup of coffee and rushed out towards Dazai, who had slightly started shivering.
Oda continued to gaze Dazai's form as the younger got behind Chuuya on the bike, until they disappeared into the distance. Without him noticed, a small, fond smile formed on Oda's face.

In a distance, a man stared out of the window of his office into the night sky. You could tell that he's the CEO of a company by the grand design of his office and the building, and by the expensive suite he wore.
Suddenly, the man's phone pinged, indicating that he recieved a message. He fished out his phone and opened the message.
The message read : "Target locked!"
The man smirked, putting away his phone and continued gazing the starry sky.
"Now, Fukuzawa! You will know the exact same pain I experienced real soon!"
The dark chuckles of the man filled the empty office.
To be continued...
