No One's POV
Everyday wasn't easy for Neteyam. After Mali'kis funeral, he became distant with everyone. He grew closer to her parents but it still didn't fill the empty void he had in his chest.
After a month had passed, the clan was back to its daily routine. Everyone still mourned the loss of the princess but they knew it was time to get back to their daily lives. Neteyam would always visit the spirit tree for hours on end, many worried for him, but he always tells everyone that he is okay.
Jake and Neytiri worried more for their son. He no longer lived with them, Lo'ak lived with his mate Nayila and Kiri lived by herself as well. The only one still home was Tuk, Jake and Neytiri knew that their children leaving was going to be bittersweet but it was time for them to live their own lives.
Now Neteyam became head warrior. He wore the clans emblem with so much pride, Kian adored his loyalty and how strong hearted he was. Heirani apologized profusely to him for keeping him away from Mali'ki and Neteyam forgave her.
Heirani had fallen with child and the clan rejoiced. Kian was very supportive but distant. He still hadn't moved on from his first borns death.
Neteyam took on every mission possible. He became adored by the clans unmated females. Lo'ak and Nayila were mates, Kiri kept to herself, Tuk was so focused in her dancing that she found the thought of having a mate was useless.
Now Jake and Neytiri were happy as they got older. Everyone was happy.
- 1 year later -
Neteyam was kneeling underneath the tree of souls, he connected his queue to one of the tendrils and was pulled into a vision.
- Vision -
Neteyam opened his eyes and noticed that he was still at the tree of souls. But the touch of soft hands made him turn his head and there stood Mali'ki.
"Hi my love" her voice sounded soft and silk, Neteyam's eyes watered as he reached out to Mali'ki. The girl grabbed his hand and placed it upon her cheek. She sighed softly as she felt his touch, "hi mali" he whispered and admired her relaxed facial features.
Mali'ki admired the strong man that Neteyam had become. Even though she wasn't there to see him grow or anything, she watched from the spirit realm. She was so truly proud of her mate. And every visit, she always reminded Neteyam of how proud she was of him. She always reminded him of his strong heart.
"Are you okay here?" Neteyam asked her as she looked at him with her doe like eyes, she gave him a smile, "I am with Eywa. I am more than okay" she stated and Neteyam let out a shaky breath.
"I miss you so much my love" he forced himself to say with a broken voice, Mali'ki took ahold of his arms and pulled him close to her. His forehead against hers his hand falling from her cheek and placing both his hands upon her waist, "I miss you too" she whispered.
Neteyam had tears streaming down his face, "I can't live without you.." he whimpered broken heartedly. "Shh my mighty warrior, I want you to know that I am okay. I am not in any pain, I am free, and I am always with you. But remember... I am very proud of you. You have a strong heart" Neteyam pulled her into him, planting a soft kiss upon her lips.
Once they pulled away Mali'ki knew it was time for him to go back. "Come visit me again okay?" She said as she tucked his braid behind his ear, "I will always come see you" he said and gave her one last kiss.
"I love you with my beating heart" he said, Mali'ki had tears brimming her eyes, "and I love you with my frozen heart" with that Neteyam watched Mali'ki vanish and he was pulled out of the vision.
- End of Vision -
Neteyam disconnected his braid and sat there. His heart aching within his chest. Yearning to be with his mate.
"Until we meet again my love.. I love you with my beating heart, until the end of time" he whispered and stood up. Neteyam took a deep breath and walked away.
