No One's POV
The next day was busy. The patrols began early, the hunters set out on their way.
Neteyam had finally joined his family for breakfast, Kiri was eyeing her brother. But Neteyam just brushed her off. Jake cleared his throat, "get some answers today and join me and your mother on a patrol this afternoon" Neteyam simply nodded and finished up his breakfast.
Neytiri looked at her oldest son and saw how tensed up he was, but before she could say anything Neteyam got up and left. Neytiri pulled Jake to their room and he could tell something was wrong because of the way she was pacing back and forth, her tail swishing behind her.
But before Jake could say anything, Neytiri spoke "our son is troubled. Something is troubling him. This is not a squad.. he is your son, not some warrior on your team" she spoke truthfully. Jake's ears flattened against his head, "I'm only hard on him because he is next in line, you know that."
Neytiri hissed under her breath and left to go spend time with her youngest child, Tuk. Jake sighed and left to attend some Olo'eyktan duties.
Lo'ak was hanging out with his friends while Kiri was helping her grandmother. Neteyam walked into the hut and Kiri immediately pulled him back out, "oh no you don't. You better explain right now where the hell you found this girl. Now Neteyam" she seethed, Neteyam looked at his sister in confusion.
"What's going on? Is she awake?" Kiri nodded her head, but put her hand on her brothers chest to stop him, "Neteyam... who is she?" Neteyam looked at his sister, unable to answer her, he sighed and just pushed past her to see the girl. Once he entered, there she was sitting on the bed with her legs pulled into her chest, her tail was wrapped tightly around her body. Her matted hair was covering her face.
"I'm going to go find your parents" Mo'at explained and left the two alone.
Neteyam kneeled down and softly cleared his throat, "are you okay?" The girl flinched at his voice, all the girl did was nod. Neteyam smiled softly, "are you hungry?" He saw how she perked up at the thought of food.
"I'll be right back okay" Neteyam said and got up to go get something to eat for the girl.
While Neteyam was gone, the girl could slightly hear everything that was around her. Her hearing was bad since the damage of testing kind of affected it. The girl felt the bed below her, it was pretty soft but she wondered why they had a human bed in the clan when sky people were forbidden to them.
Before she could do anything else, Neteyam entered the hut and the smell of food caught her attention. "I'm back" he spoke as he walked closer to her, he saw the tension leave her body as she let her feet touch the floor. The girl signed, "thank you" to the him as he gave her a food wrap, she carefully took it from him. He was confused as to what she just signed.
Neteyam sat across from her and watched her as she began to eat slowly. "May I ask, what is your name?" Neteyam spoke after a couple of minutes, the girl froze midway into a bite, the girl signed "Mali'ki" and finished up her food.
Neteyam slightly was still confused so the girl grabbed his hand and spelled her name in his palm. Neteyam caught on immediately, "Mali'ki. It's nice to meet you, Mali'ki. It's nice" Neteyam said with a smile on his lips, Mali'ki shyly smiled as a small hint of pink began to cover her cheeks.
The sound of footsteps were heard and Neteyam immediately stood up to greet his parents. Mo'at and Kiri stood off to the side, Jake and Neytiri looked at their son. Neteyam went to speak but Jake held up his hand to silence him, instead he stood in front of the girl and made her stand up.
